Re: Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

Here is the latest screen shot from last night. I am wondering if I should raise the minimum pressure?

Re: Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

going back to the very beginning of this topic..... Did your doctor prescribe the constant 4 cm that you showed in your first post? If not, what did he prescribe? They prescribed a fixed pressure of 7. But my AHI was even higher on that. Ok, so you started at 7 cm constant, but to achieve a lower A...

Re: Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

I just uploaded last night's data with the FL showing better - thanks for the tip! AHI got cropped out, but it was at 6.6. I'll be traveling to sea level this week and interested to see what it is at a lower altitude. Regarding the EPR, I currently have it set to 3 and I had some questions on that -...

Re: Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

I definitely feel silly for not knowing the EPR wouldn't do anything at a pressure of 4. The reason for the low pressures is to see if lowering the pressure would lower the CA. I don't seem to have much OA, so I wanted to see how much we could lower the CA. After reviewing the data, I decided to go ...

Is the goal to ultimately be on fixed pressure?

Is the ultimate goal to get onto a fixed pressure? Or is there any issue with being on an APAP range permanently? I seem to have better numbers on an APAP range instead of a fixed pressure.

Re: Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

Thank you everyone for the replies! The titration study would be ideal, but unfortunately it was around $2000 and we aren't ready to explore that yet. The doc also said the ASV machine is extremely expensive. When she pulled my data she stated my average AHI was around 7, and that if I am typically ...

Does EPR truly lower Central Apnea?

I ask this because I greatly prefer to have the EPR set to 3, but my doc says to lower it to 1 to reduce CA. I haven't noticed any difference in the CA so far, and highly prefer the EPR at 3 to prevent aerophagia.

EPR at Fixed Pressure

Dumb question - If I set my APAP to a fixed pressure of 8, does the EPR still work? Or will it not even work since I'm at a fixed pressure and it can't drop?

Re: New User Looking for Some Help

Last night didn't go well as I had one of the highest AHI's I've had since starting CPAP. It was crazy to see the AHI go over 50 early on, but oddly enough was relatively low after that. The centrals look super high as well. On the positive side, it was nice to have a 6 hour consistent sleep session...

Re: New User Looking for Some Help

Thank you! I’ll give 6 a shot tonight and let you know how it goes.

I’m considering turning back on EPR to reduce bloating, but I’ll make that change at another time.

I’ll work on getting more sleep too! Sometimes life gets in the way.

Re: New User Looking for Some Help

Last night I decided to try a minimum pressure of 5 and maximum pressure at 5. Good news - CA was slightly lower.' Bad news - OA and RE made a slight appearance which never happens. Hypopneas went up a bit. Overall AHI was higher. I also seemed to wake up more during the course of the night. I felt ...

Re: New User Looking for Some Help

I'm glad to hear you felt a bit better today. If you could clock 8 hours of sleep I bet you'd feel better still! I'm curious why you want to maintain a pressure range. Although your flow-limitation graph didn't make it into your chart image, I'm willing to bet that FLs are what's driving your press...

Re: New User Looking for Some Help

Yes, in APAP mode, set both the min and the max at 6. Flow limitations are restrictions in your airway, and when your machine senses them, it increases pressure to head off OAs that may be developing. (Similar story for snores.) Some people are sensitive to pressure changes, even fairly small ones,...
