Re: Insurance or not???

I checked with my insurance carrier and found out that after deductible they cover 90%. I rarely meet my deductible in past years so I am strongly leaning toward just buying my own machine. I asked the insurance representative if I could buy from somewhere else than a DME for the machine and my supp...

Re: Insurance or not???

Kind of depends on how much your deductible is. If it's a high deductible and the cost of the machine will only pay a small portion towards your yearly deductible, and you won't realistically reach the limit during the course of the year that might not make sense. However, if your yearly deductible...

Re: Insurance or not???

Then why is my price cheaper than the insurance company price? You are comparing apples and oranges. One is a rental that you could back away from and leave the DME with little revenue and a used machine. The other gives the DME full revenue upfront. I am not talking about buying a used machine. I ...

Re: Insurance or not???

Then why is my price cheaper than the insurance company price? In addition to what Pugsy said, the DME may be on the hook as long as 5 years to repair or replace the machine if you to it through an insurance covered rental process, especially if you are on Medicare. Medicare (and you with your dedu...

resmed 11 airsense
Please specify ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet.
The resmed AirSense 11 Autoset is what was originally quoted. I just sent a message to the DME to verify the price they quoted me was for the same machine.

Re: Insurance or not???

Firstly, don't trust the DME. Ask your insurance company. Also, ask the insurance company if durable medical equipment is subject to the deductible. She came back with $750 if I just buy it outright. I asked why the price difference and she said something about that's their contracted price with th...

Insurance or not???

I thought at some point I saw a sticky regarding dealing with insurance but don't seem to see anything right now. If I am missing it let me know. I am on a 3 month rental because I was unsure if I could get used to CPAP. I have now gotten used to it mainly do to this forum so thanks! Now I am workin...

Re: Newbie looking for help

Thanks everybody. Last night I had one of my best nights with an AHI of 7.39 with my CA events at 1.5. I feel like I am really getting used to sleeping with the mask so I think I am going to let it go for a few days and watch the data. ozij, I see the logic you are talking about with the minimum pre...

Re: Newbie looking for help

I have just started to capture data last night so I don't have any idea how many Centrals I had with it off. I will watch a few more days with it on and then try turning it off.

Re: Newbie looking for help

I will ask the wife about what position she sees me in. She won't have much info because she mostly sleeps like a rock and never moves. Another thought is I can use my security camera next weekend when at our 2nd residence. Regarding mask seal.... Is a nose mask a better option to get a better seal?...

Re: Newbie looking for help

The results I got from the sleep clinic doesn't break out CA and OA. It just gives me an average AHI and then breaks out the AHI for supine an non-supine.

My point is I don't know how many CA's I had during my "sleep study"

Re: Newbie looking for help

Hi, you'll get lots more from others here, but one thing is that 20 is the usual max setting for Apap... 4 is the machine's default low and difficult for most to breathe at, so 6 or 7 is a more likely minimum setting, but that being said, you have lots of clear airway (central) events and Apap is n...

Re: Newbie looking for help

I am not really sure about how much time on my back. I know from my home sleep study that was done, they state in the results that I was Supine for 4 hrs 13 min out of a total of 6.5 hours of the test. Kind of weird because I thought I slept mostly on my side but I guess I don't really know how I sl...

Newbie looking for help

First of all, I want to thank all of you for this site! I am new to APAP but years ago failed getting used to CPAP because I was left on my own to try and figure things out. (This time around my sleep help hasn't been much better.) I have talked with my sleep Dr about my previous failure and haven't...
