Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
there's someone on the forum here that recommends using a sweatband over the lips. it's enough to keep them closed against some pressure without the inconvenience of taping/hair pulling/getting it to stick, etc. I'll be totally honest - when I read this reply I thought the idea sounded a bit silly....

Re: Newly back to CPAP, somewhat massive leak issues - help?
If I apply any more pressure to the humidifier, it will break. It's not going in any further.
Also, I saw your thread - you were also hearing loud noises, too, right? Mine's dead silent.
I wish it were that easy.

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Hmm, well, good and bad. Good: the tape worked. The bad: for whatever annoying reason, I can't tolerate it anymore. :/ I kept waking up with a near-panic feeling and after a couple hours, had to remove it. (The first break in the data shows when.) From there of course it got pretty ugly due to mouth...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Hmm, guess I do remember some talk about that, but taping always worked for me. I did fool around with the tape a couple hours ago and did find a procedure that has it adhering somewhat well so I'll try that tonight.

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Did you ever try the poligrip/polident strips? I did try it and wasn't horrible but they sort of tasted nasty. It was fairly effective though. Maybe they could sort of glue the lips together enough and it doesn't have to touch the hair. Huh, never heard of anyone using anything like that for CPAP e...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Is your reluctance to tape because you don't want to shave or just the idea of taping? Taping doesn't bother me in the least! I had to tape when I was on treatment before, and did it for about 2 years; it's no big deal at all! But now I have full facial hair so taping just isn't an option. If it's ...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Did you sleep through all those? I have no way of knowing if I did or not. I don't recall waking up much last night, which is nice. Are you maybe also sleeping on your back during those time? 99% of my mouth breathing is when I am on my back..I wake up with mouth open and almost always I am on my b...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Ugh, last night leak rate:

16.3% :/
But, AHI much better, 3.1. Dunno, it can only be mouth opening. I'll try a few more nights but then may have to try the strap again. Or, ugh, shave-n-tape.

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Oddly, yeah, when I was on treatment before, I ended up disabling auto and just running straight 11CM for a long, long time. And then bumped it to 13 CM for some reason I can't recall. I thought maybe auto would work, but maybe it just won't in the end. I'll try tightening the range though. (And I'l...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
Cool - got the red line issue fixed. Anyway, here's 2 nights of leak rate graphs. Last night: http://www.neriak.com/cpap/20141016-leak-rate.jpg Night before: http://www.neriak.com/cpap/20141015-leak-rate.jpg Last night seems pretty terrible (and it was pretty terrible for AHI/other data too). In fac...

Not on your life. (Sorry to Mac fans...)Pugsy wrote:Are you using a Mac?
Oh the leak GRAPH shows fine, I just can't see any red line on it like I've seen in some screenshots. Maybe my resolution is just too high to see it.if SleepyHead isn't showing the leak graphs properly.

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
How come you can't see the leak line in SleepyHead? Which version are you using? Whatever testing version was the latest as of Saturday when I downloaded it. I'll have to check for exact sure when I get home. Was the SD card in the S9 all night? I don't have an S9, I have the newer AS10. And yes, I...

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
lots of people with beards/moustaches report decent results (including a friend of mine who frequently looks like the wildman from the mountains) with a ffm. Odd. I wasn't able to get a FFM to seal when I was clean-shaven back in '06 when I was first DX'ed. Way too much surface area that has to seal.

Re: Newly back to CPAP, and a new chin strap user - help?
An FFM won't work for me due to the facial hair (which I'm trying to avoid having to shave, heh).
Not sure how far over the redline, as for some reason, SH doesn't display the actual line for me like I've seen in some screenshots.
