Clearly larger diameter hoses are bulkier and somewhat more trouble to manage.
So why do they exist at all? Most CPAP machines accept multiple hose sizes.
Why not always choose the smallest?
What advantages do larger hose sizes offer?
Quieter?
Better heating function?
Cheaper?

I recently got a Dreamstation 2 with a very small diameter hose. It's noisier than my previous ResMed 10 with a larger hose size.
