Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Been a little while - shortly after my last update, I developed a cold, and I was hoping to fully recover before reevaluating my therapy, just in case the cold could be influencing the PAP's efficacy somehow. (For instance, perhaps the excess mucus could be obstructing my airway furthe...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! I'm happy to announce that I finally had a leakless night!! I followed ozij's advice of blowing gently with the tape on to identify weak points, and my mouth's left corner got loose, so I applied an extra, vertical strip of tape over the left corner to further secure it. And it seems t...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Last night's data was about the same as the night before, aside from a higher AHI... What I noticed this time when waking up in the night and in the morning: My mouth was largely still sealed shut, except the very left corner had opened itself up, and I could definitely feel the air le...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
zleeby- I’ve been trying to look at the data and only see two lines and it’s hard to make them out. Admittedly I have harder time in my little mobile. I am missing things like ahi and settings info. Sorry, I'd only been posting the graphs for events and leakage. Here's everything else. In terms of ...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Do you fold your lips in (without stretching them)? The other thing that works for me it to make sure the strip is long enough to really be stuck away from the corners of your mouth. I did fold my lips, but only a little bit. I can try folding them fully tonight. The strip covered the corners of my...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey all! After some fiddling over the past several days, I've managed to get the pillow mask more comfortable, and now I'm attempting to use mouth tape to finally put a stop to my leakage. 3 nights ago I tried a vertical strip over my lips, but that didn't stay secure for long. 2 nights ago I used a...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
The nasal pillows should not be inside the nostrils. Or rather, just the very tippy-tip part of the cone should be in your nostrils. And when properly placed, the cones on the nasal pillows really should not be touching the inside of your nose at all. Is it possible that you are trying to put too m...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Here's the data from 2 nights ago , and here it is from last night . Pretty big discrepancy here - 2 nights ago was the worst night that I've had with the nasal mask in terms of leaks and events, whereas last night was the best in that regard. I didn't change any settings, so I'm reall...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! The end of daylight savings seems to have messed with last night's data... There was an hour-long cut early in the night. I suppose the machine was attempting to adjust for the time change, but instead of jumping back an hour, it jumped forward an hour. Very strange. But I'm going to a...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! You're right, I really ought to be spending more than a single night with a given set of settings. I'm rather impatient and want to get answers as quickly as possible, but I understand that conclusions drawn from a low sample size are less likely to be accurate, so I will make myself s...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Here's the data from last night. I raised my humidity from 3 to 5. It seems to have made things a little worse in terms of leaks and events... The leakage peaked at nearly 60L/min, compared to just under 35 last night. The episodes of leakage also started earlier in the night, and the ...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Here's last night's data. Sleep was about the same as yesterday: woke up consciously a couple times, but the mask stayed secure, and I feel just a bit better than usual. Sinus congestion. Are you using heated hose and humidifier? What is climate where you live? The humidity on my machi...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
First thing to try is to pay attention to where you keep your tongue during the daytime when you are not actively eating, drinking, or talking. It should be touching the roof of your mouth right behind your front teeth. It seems to me that my tongue is in this position by default. I suppose tonight...

Re: Rocky start with APAP - what next?
Hey everyone! Switched back to the pillow mask last night. I went up to the medium pillow size and tightened the headgear straps stronger than before. I'm happy to report that I kept the mask on for the whole night! I woke up prematurely once or twice, but the mask never came loose. And my wakefulne...
