Re: Transitional apnea making CPAP impossible?
You did not respond to my comment about the EPR. Perhaps you don't want to go into the medical reasons for using it, and that's OK. But in case you just happened to forget to respond, I'll repeat: EPR may be destabilizing you breathing and causing you to stop breathing. You may be able to breathe m...

Re: Transitional apnea making CPAP impossible?
Thanks for the thoughtful response. A few responses: Can you elaborate on what you mean by "a disaster"? Because, based on what you've said, the titration was, also, overall informative . Normally, titrations start with CPAP, and only then do they switch to Bi-Level machines. Did that happen in your...

Re: Transitional apnea making CPAP impossible?
Thanks all! A few responses and clarifications: - My O2 is only 75%-78% during the periods where I am not breathing for 50-60 seconds, and that only happens 2-3 times at the start of the night when I am trying to fall asleep with CPAP. - Otherwise (i.e. without CPAP), the lowest my O2 typically gets...

Transitional apnea making CPAP impossible?
Diagnosed OSA, ~25 AHI during REM, ~4 AHI during non-REM. First time I tried CPAP I had difficulties with anxiety/claustrophobia. Saw a cognitive behavioral therapist to address, which was surprisingly successful. I am now returning to CPAP for a second attempt. On to the issue: When using CPAP, the...

Re: Help with sleep onset centrals?
I tried setting the minimum pressure to 6 and turning off AutoRamp. No problem tolerating the pressure when awake. But I had the same issue falling asleep - long pauses in breathing as I was falling asleep. The pauses were perhaps not as long as the other nights, but I didn't let the CPAP session go...

Re: Help with sleep onset centrals?
I appreciate the responses. I figured out how to enter clinical mode on the machine so that I can change the settings myself and will give a higher starting pressure a try.
It's still not clear to me whether my breathing was pausing and if so, why. But fingers crossed this will address the issue.

Re: Help with sleep onset centrals?
A few responses below and a few questions because I only partly understand: I was diagnosed with mild OSA through at home sleep test. I was not titrated. On my machine AutoRamp is enabled. My doctor seems to have control of some settings, including my minimum pressure. I understand that the OSCAR ch...

Re: Help with sleep onset centrals?
The first few days I could not fall asleep from anxiety. But the last few days it has felt like something was waking me up. I wasn't sure why, e.g. changing CPAP pressure? But last night I was more certain it felt like pauses in breathing, and I was jerking awake (repeatedly) gasping. Is that someth...

Help with sleep onset centrals?
I could really use the wisdom of the board. I am a newbie, 10 days into treatment. I have had anxiety and difficulty tolerating the mask, but I have made some progress. My current problem: I have only successfully fallen asleep with the mask on once. Whenever I am close, I snap awake. It feels like ...
