Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
To the OP: Could you post a link to a chart with the increased level of OAs? Thanks. Great news! Last night my sleep returned back to normal (pre 3/2, still UARS though). Did min EPAP 7 - max EPAP 11, PS 4 (i.e fixed range) with humidity 4. Also, did not eat anything past 7 pm. Wore my retainer. So...

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
To the OP: I think you're making too many changes in quick succession to judge what does or doesn't make a difference to your sleep. Pick some settings and the other variables you've changed, and then stick with them for a week. Sleep can be very different from one night to the next, so you need to...

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
Day 7 - 24 Post (2/21 - 3/10) Really sorry for the delay! TLDR: My sleep got much worse, now having ~5 AHI instead of < 1 with tons of OAs and very weird flow rate curves , but I don't think it's because of increased pressure or increased PS. I feel slightly, but certainly noticeably, more brain-fo...

Re: UARS and CPAP
If you have time, could you point me to another resource for how to spot arousal breathing? That would be super useful for me. Yeah all those links over at Jason's are broken. Sorry, no spare time. I am heading out the door right now for a special event tonight. BUT Jason has that same video and ex...

Re: UARS and CPAP
You aren't going to get much help from the data the machine is going to give you unless you want to learn how to zoom in on the flow rate and go hunting arousal breathing. UARS is more about arousals than it is how often the airway closes off enough to earn some sort of sleep apnea flagged event. T...

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
Possibly you're waking up after 7 hours because your body has gotten all the sleep it wants? How are you feeling Try PS of 4, keeping your minimum EPAP at 6. Give it a couple of days, and if all is well, then try increasing your minimum EPAP to 7. Make sense? Sorry for the late response! Looking ba...

Where to find research on UARS?
I'm interested in reading about recent research on UARS. I'm not in the research community and couldn't find recent (e.g past few years) articles on google. Can someone link some sites where I can find this information?

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
It's fine to try going up on PS by .6; let's see what happens. By the numbers your FLs were better with the higher minimum, and if that was comfortable for you, then well and good. Bear in mind that one night doesn't really provide a basis for drawing conclusions, since sleep is naturally quite var...

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
Ah got it, thanks! Glad to hear my I:E ratio flip is probably normal. Would love to keep you posted. Here's day 2. Based on my insights from yesterday, I increased my min EPAP by 1, since the machine wasn't picking up on some flow limitation, I figured I might as well increase the minimum (effective...

Re: UARS: a different approach
@Tan I initially had a great deal of success treating my UARS with higher pressures and pressure support, but about a year ago I noticed that my sleep’s quality began deteriorating again. What happened here? Without changing your settings, you found your sleep worsening over time? Does that mean tha...

Re: Getting a Bipap, seeking help determining settings
Another question, how do you detect mouth breathing vs nasal breathing in the flow rate graph in OSCAR? (I have a full face mask). I couldn't find an answer searching this question up.
