Re: sleep study, what does it all mean?
what is an auto cpap? A CPAP that senses how you breathe and provides the possibility of its adjusting the pressure it creates to match your needs moment to moment. Isn't 5 kind of low? Some find 5 a very effective and comfortable pressure for starting out the night. Others feel they need a minimum...

Re: I am a nervous wreck
If I tried to have potato chips for breakfast and my PCP found out about it, I'm pretty sure she'd show up at my door with a SWAT team before I was finished chewing the first one.

Everything is easier when you live inside a computer simulation.

Re: I am a nervous wreck
Maybe this mechanism would be more the relevant one for the OP, but it's far beyond my depth. Excess stress sets off your fight-or-flight response: Your adrenals secrete catecholamines, hormones (including epinephrine and norepinephrine) that raise your blood sugar so your muscles have the required ...

Re: I am a nervous wreck
Maybe not exactly how I would have worded things because of the relative rarity and variety of "causes"--and yet, counter-intuitively, for some, because of a sort of resultant reactionary timing dysfunction . . . Researchers have not yet fully identified the specific causes of reactive hypoglycemia....

Re: Important Jason/AXG video
I was prescribed bilevel and used autobilevel for years. But once ResMed perfected their EPR, I switched to APAP with EPR. Why? Partly for cost reasons, partly in reaction to weight loss, and partly because I like that EPR suspends when no flow is detected and because I really like the reasoning beh...

I won't/don't watch. Sorry. Once a sleep doc writes the Rx, he or she has basically done his or her job in the U.S. He or she has likely never used PAP personally and so has little to no idea what it is like or about in practice. The techs are for testing, not for treating. Unfortunately, the averag...

y'all have a *history*. Nope. He made his own history in how he treated people, all on his own--as the links in this forum clearly show. modem-wary? Not I. The C2C was dependable, cheap, and available. I love the automatic nature and convenience of MyAir, when I use a machine with a modem . Natural...

I don't watch his videos. On principle.
So I'm not aware what he's lost or what he's on.

Re: I’ll settle the debate on AHI for UARS folks
When you've lived in Brooklyn as long I did, anything above mid-Bronx is "Upstate." But I was going for the predicate adjective "upstate" as a direction, as in "further up the state." Now I go to Nyack much more often than I do DUMBO. Although at the moment I'm in WV, disguised as a non-Yankee for s...

Re: Advice for first time sleeping on airplane w/cpap?
My advice:
1. Take a nap using CPAP just before heading to the airport. 2. Take a nap on CPAP as soon as possible after landing.
Sleeping deeply in a crowd of strangers is something I'm not all that comfortable with at any altitude.

Re: OT; the other sleep demons that haunt our nights
My experience has been that allergy shots, when done right, can do much good and can provide significant relief for years. On the other hand, I once had a bad experience with some serious face-swelling around the eyes in the hours immediately following a shot that was a bump up in shot strength and ...

In NC this weekend for a funeral. Be safe in the city and keep it tween the gutters, my friend. Sorry to hear that. FYI BNY on May 5th. LMK if you'll be in the neighborhood. Hey, it was a great funeral! I rarely ever hit the old neighborhood these days, though, now that my primary residence is upst...
