Re: Exagerrated adrenaline surges from sleep apnea
Many articles note the connection: "When the body experiences frequent sleep disturbances, it produces more cortisol, the stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels can contribute to anxiety. By improving sleep patterns, CPAP therapy helps regulate cortisol levels, leading to reduced stress and anxiet...

Re: New OSA patient
I believe that the information you provided indicates that there is a high likelihood that you will benefit greatly from PAP, especially if you use it for all sleep and at the treatment-pressure settings that turn out to be best for you over time.

Re: Very dry mouth with Mounjaro and CPAP even with taping
Eating less means that a person is taking in less water in his or her food, so many on GLP-1/GIP medications have to put extra effort into drinking enough water to make up for that fact. But I'm sure you know that. "Make sure you stay hydrated while taking this medication. Drink water often. Eat fru...

I might choose to follow the accident and emergency visit with a call to my primary doc's office.

Re: Increased Daytime Anxiety and Depression
Significant changes in sleep patterns can at times be a good reason to take a fresh look at all forms of med dosing--of course doing so at the right pace in cooperation with, and taking full advantage of, the assistance from one's medical team, not simply on one's own. But you know that. I'm just st...

Re: Increased Daytime Anxiety and Depression
Here is but one take (mine) on that fairly commonly reported phenomenon: With that high of an AHI, your body may in the past have been manufacturing a lot of "extra" hormones to have on hand to jar you awake all night whenever you stopped breathing. Once the airway is being effectively kept open all...

Although I'm sure Zonker has admirable lungs, it is his kind heart that I most envy. I believe Granny's statement may best be understood as a general statement made regarding simple OSA. OSA and COPD as an overlap syndrome can have unique considerations that your doc may wish to address with specifi...

only lab data . . . acceptable. Medical people often believe that they are generally expected/required to go by medical-grade data from a validated source to keep their license and to be protected legally. That principle doesn't prevent you from choosing to take on the responsibilty of using other ...

Re: Questions re; Minimum Pressure settings...
It seems to me that many medical pros hand out autos with the minimum set to 4cm, since they follow the manufacturers' recommendation (flawed in my opinion) of doing that, handing out autos set "wide open." In fact, I believe that's what most pros consider to be "using an auto." Among patients who b...

Re: pugsy out for awhile
I assumed it was somewhat serious. So thank you for posting. I believe Zonker was just trying to keep us from panicking. I am very big on volume expanders, myself. Even with a low count. Take your time, please, but we very much look forward to you being closer to 100%. Meantime, Zonker should be abl...

If I only posted when I had something significant to add, then . . .
. . . Well, for one thing, I guess I'd probably get in a lot less trouble for hijacking and derailing threads.

Re: Inspire device
The article I quoted above says the following: "Once you have the Inspire device installed, you can have MRIs performed on your head, neck, arms, and legs as long as medical technicians follow specific guidelines. You cannot have an MRI on your chest or torso. However, you can have torso CT scans, u...
