By Challenge participantI liked the lighter weight and increased flexibility of this tube. It also didn't make as much noise as other tubes - less crackle when I shifted position. On the negative side, I use a hose cover and the larger connector end, lighter weight and increased flexibility made it much more difficult to get the hose into the cover. I finally accomplished it, but it was a battle. I also have a concern about durability because of the lighter gauge vinyl used. I'm not sure how easily this product will develop cracks. I will, however, continue to use this hose because of its lighter weight. | By Challenge participantThis hose is my usual one. I've had very little trouble with it. It's been durable and it's relatively easy to insert into my hose cover. Compared to the Performance Tube, it is heavier and a bit "noisier" when I move. I use a nasal pillow setup and the heavier weight has been an intermittent problem when I sleep on my side - it sometimes causes seal breaks. I will keep this hose as my backup one.
By Challenge participantI found the Performance Tubing to be an improvement over the 6 foot CPAP hose for me. The new tubing I was sent, I could tell immediately would work better for the way I sleep. I tend to toss and turn some, which can cause issues with heavier tubing. The lightweight and less "catchy" tubing didn't catch on the edge of my nightstand, or the edge of the bed. I never once woke up because of the hose pulling on the mask, as I have with the CPAP Hose. The Performance Tubing is also very quiet, even when it loops and rubs against itself. I would higly recommend this hose for people who tend to turn and move in their sleep, as I do. | By Challenge participantI've been using the CPAP hose for quite a while, and never really had much of a problem with it. After doing the comparison though, I realized that it wasn't 'normal' for the hose to catch on the edge of my nightstand, or my bed. Sometimes, the CPAP Hose would actually catch, and pull the mask to the side, causing a leak which would usually wake me up. This hose would work perfectly fine for someone who does not shift and turn a lot during the night.
By Challenge participantThe Respironics tubing is very durable and very well built. The connector ends hold a very tight fit to the humidifier outlet and does not easily remove, giving it a resilience to leaks. The only real issue is that it is very stiff tubing and does not relax from its original shipping shape even after several weeks of heated use & cleaning. This makes the tubing a little more uncomfortable than the generic tubing, but adds considerably to its durability. | By Challenge participantThis product differs only from the brand-name tubing in a few ways. First, after a week of use, the tubing relaxes into a more flexible hose that is easier and more comfortable to use. It doesn't pull on the mask like the name-brand. Second, and less appealingly, the seals weaken considerably after a couple of weeks of daily removal and cleaning. It quickly becomes easier to remove from the machine and gives the feeling that the seals stretch out. Overall, the generic is nearly identical to the brand-name, but seems a little quicker to wear out with long-term usage. For the price difference though, it is a very good buy.
By Challenge participantThe Performance Tubing seals more tightly to both the mask and to the cpap machine. Also, the white color makes it look cleaner than the gray Six Foot CPAP Hose. The tubing seemed stiffer than the Six Foot CPAP Hose. The test was not long enough to gauge durability. | By Challenge participantThe Six Foot CPAP Hose seemed more flexible. While the gray color of the hose makes it seem not as clean as the white Performance Tubing, I genrally have a cover on the hose making color a non-issue for me. I also like that the Six Foot CPAP Hose is price competitive. It will be interesting to compare the durability over the next several months.
By Challenge participantIt seemed a little more flexible than our other hose. | By Challenge participantI liked the way it was less noticeable, the color was better than white. The white really shows up in our bedroom.
By Challenge participantThe good: This tubing works great with my Resmed LT nasal pillows. it reduces the pull on the nasal pillows and helps me to get a better seal. The tubing is also more flexible so it has less of a disposition to pull at the nasal pillows when I sleep on my side. The reduced weight also made the pillows more comfortable. The bad: It makes a funny crinkling sound when it bends and it also seems to be brittle. It did not fail on me while using it but it just appears to be less robust than the regular tubing. In use I did not hear any more or less sound from the air rushing through but I have other white noise in my bedroom so I may not have noticed. I also got a little more rainout in this tube than I do in my regular CPAP.com hose but eliminated it by tucking the tube under the covers with me in bed - I should note that due to the flexibility it was easier to tuck under the covers and got in the way less than the regular CPAP tubing. I also use a snugglehose wrap and it was very difficult getting the snugglehose over the enlarged end on the performance tubing. All in all though I have to choose the performance tubing for nasal pillows as the benefits of lighter weight and flexibility outweigh the slight increase in rainout. If you use a snugglehose be prepared for a struggle to get it over the rubber coupling. | By Challenge participantWith the CPAP standard hose, you know what to expect, it's a basic and affordable replacement or a spare hose to keep one drying out while the other is in use. The snuggly hose cover fits better over this hose as it was designed with this hose in mind. It also looks like it is more durable but I have not seen either fail so this is just speculation.
By Challenge participantLiked: Light weight and flexibilty, which caused less pull on my nasal pillows therefore a less interrupted and better sleep. Diskliked: Hose connections are very tight and the tapered style is hard to grasp for removal. The light weight of the hose while a positive may mean a shorter life. Price is twice as much as the competitor. I would buy this hose since I was able to try it. Because I got better sleep, it is worth the price. | By Challenge participantLiked: Hose connections have a collar and are less tight so easy to grasp for removal. Utilitarian, should last a long time. Relatively inexpensive. Diskliked: Weight that causes pulling on nasal pillows, thus occasionally disrupts sleep.
By Challenge participantI have to say that I didn't really notice any significant differences between the two types of hose. I felt that the Performance Tubing was slightly more flexible than the Six Foot CPAP Hose, but not to the point that it would make any difference. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I preferred the white Performance Tubing to the gray Six Foot CPAP Hose. | By Challenge participantThere was nothing to dislike about the Six Foot CPAP Hose, in fact I bought mine fairly recently and I chose it because it had the lower price. However, I don't feel that the quality is affected in any way. Now, if someone would just invent a puncture-proof hose that would withstand onslaughts from my cat who feels she needs to protect me from it, that would be my ideal!
By Challenge participantI didn't feel that there was anything better about the tubing that would cause me to purchase it instead of the CPAP hose. | By Challenge participantI felt that the CPAP hose was more flexible and therfore more comfortable than the performance tubing. This may change as the performance tubing is used a little more but i like the feel of the CPAP hose.
By Challenge participantMuch improvement over the six foot Cpap hose | By Challenge participantHave had one hose were the seal had come from hose end . Junk
By Challenge participantThis tubing seems to more durable and the seal is better on my CPAP machine. | By Challenge participantThis tubing seems to stretch out too much.
By Challenge participantI really like the tight seal it gives on the headgear and on the humidifier. It really helps with leakage and noise issues. | By Challenge participantThe cpap hose is more flexible than the performance tubing, but the seals wear quickly, resulting in noise and leakage.
By Challenge participantI liked the way the new hose ends are designed. I did not like the slight audible clicking sound it makes when it is flexed, but it didn't affect sleeping at all. | By Challenge participantIt has worked fine.
By Challenge participantI liked this new tubing quite a bit. It may be that I had just replaced my humidifier, but it seemed to be better insulated; I had to turn the humidifier down a few notches. But again it may be that my old humidifier wasn't operating properly. | By Challenge participantThis hose works well, but I found it noisier as I moved around at night. It also takes longer for this hose, when new, to loosen up.
By Challenge participantThere was nothing I liked better about the performance tubing. After using the CPAP tubing here was such a difference I disliked so much about it the comfort, the quietness, the weight. | By Challenge participantEverthing. It make a world of difference. I used to wake up several times a night to readjust my mask and since using the Six Foot CPAP hose I have slept thru the night and have not woke up to readjust my mask. I did not find anything I dislike about the hose. I am sold on the hose and will be reordering this hose from now on. Thank you for allowing my the change to be part of this challenge as it has made my CPAP treatment better.
By Challenge participantSeems to be a good product and one that will last. | By Challenge participantI like this product a lot. Seems to flex easily.
By Challenge participantOver all It is fantistic, the flexibility is not as good. but I would use it over the CPAP hose. Thank you! Tami | By Challenge participantIt's all I have every used. it's been good. but the performance tubing is really nice.
By Challenge participantI use a nasal mask, and the lighter weight significantly reduced the tendency of the weight of the hose to pull my mask sideways which often produced a slight leakage, creating a poorer seal with my mask. It is also more flexible, so I do not have to address the location of the hose when I roll over during sleep. | By Challenge participantI have used this hose and a respironics for years, eventually learning for best results to have the hose approach my mask from the top, not the bottom. The weight of the hose was often an issue and needed to be addressed every time I rolled over from one side to the other side.
By Challenge participantI liked that it was so light weight. I found that it did not pull my mask in one direction or another and I thought it might actually be quieter than the 6ft hose. When I first pulled the tube out of the bag I thought it felt quite cheap and I was afraid that I would put my finger nail through it. I did not end up damaging the tube in the end though. | By Challenge participantI like the sturdy feel of this tube. I feel like i can move it without a problem and it has a good seal. my one problem may be that it is a little heavier and pulls my mask slightly.
By Challenge participantThe performance tubing was lighter and more flexible; it was even a bit more quiet. However, it is basically worthless! Be very careful with this hose. The third night that I used it in this research process, the hose completely tore away from the end cap. I went to remove it from my CPAP so that I could put on the "traditional" CPAP hose, and the performance tubing completely tore away from the rubber end cap. It was immediately worthless to me. I would not recommend this to anyone. In fact, I would caution folks against purchasing this product. It is extremely worthless. I have saved the ruined and useless performance tubing, and I will gladly send it back to you for your investigation. | By Challenge participantThe CPAP hose is a bit heavier, and somewhat less flexible than the challenger (performance tubing). However, it is sturdy and strong. The CPAP hose has never torn or ripped apart, as did the challenger. I will gladly send you the performance tubing so that you can see just how unreliable and worthless it really is. I will continue to use the CPAP hose and I will recommend this to my friends and family.
By Challenge participantMore flexible and smoother outside surface. Shallower ridges do not get caught on furniture or make noise as it drags against furniture. I have not seen anything I dislike so far. | By Challenge participantLess flexible- deeper ridges get caught on furniture and make noise as it drags against furniture. I have been using this tubing for a long time and except for the problem listed above, I have been satisfied with it durability.
By Challenge participantThere was very little difference between the Performance Tubing and the six foot CPAP hose. Both were a little less flexible than the original hose that came with my ResMed S8, but for 1/4th the price I will make that concession. It's almost a cointoss to choose between these two products. The Performacne Tubing rubber seals were slightly better, so I will give it the edge. | By Challenge participantThere was very little difference between the Performance Tubing and the six foot CPAP hose. By Challenge participantThe Performance Tubing seemed to weigh slightly less, however this difference is indistinguishable when in use. The Performance Tubing is more flexible and this makes using the tubing easier. | By Challenge participantThe CPAP hose is less expensive and is provides all of the benefits that brand name tubing.
By Challenge participantThe Performance Tubing is the clear winner in my mind. The tubing is very strong and yet weighs half as much as the house and other name brands. When I first looked at it and gave it a good inspection I thought this would not hold up. I dropped and stepped on it while washing it and even with shoes on it was just fine. The flexability can't be beat. There really is a difference in hoses. I sleep with the hose over my head to the inside connection side of the swift II mask. My normal hose doesn't bend as much as I wold like, and sometimes "springs" and pulls during the night. This hose is very supple and doesn't seem to want to spring away from where I put it. I would have never guessed that changing a 6 foot hose would make a difference in the way I sleep at night. My wife said it was quieter also. Less hissing wind noise. I didn't notice this, but it is a good side benefit for your partner. | By Challenge participantA very good durable hose for most uses. I have used these hoses for years with no problems. Well, I thought I wasn't having problems. I Like these hoses for travel, as they hold up very well to abuse, but for everyday use get the Performance Tubing.
By Challenge participantSo much better than the current tubing. Thank you so much for choosing me to evaluate this product. | By Challenge participantGlad I had a chance to compare the two products. The new Performance Tubing is better. If you have similar challenges for the face mask or water chamber please pick me again, because I would really like to see some changes to these products. The chamber needs to be corrosion proof, and I would like to see a better seal on the face mask.
By Challenge participantI liked the light weight of the hose and the flexibility. I was able to sleep more soundly with the performance hose. | By Challenge participantThis hose is fairly stiff and very hard to lay on when sleeping
By Challenge participantThe performance tubing has a tighter connection to the mask and machine and eliminated accidental disconnects. When this tubing is flexed, it makes a "crinkle" like sound that you hear and feel when you are awake, but this did not disturb sleep. There wasn't any difference in quietness or amount of air flow. Overall, there wasn't much difference in performance between the two tubes. I can not justify the higher price for the Performance tubing. | By Challenge participantAlthough the CPAP hose does not have as tight a connection to the machine as the Performance tubing, I have accidentally pulled the CPAP hose out of the machine twice in the past year. The upside to the accidental disconnects is that I didn't pull the machine off the nightstand either time. The CPAP hose has closer spacing between the metal spirals than the Performance tubing which might add to its durability and reduce the possibility of being crushed if the wearer rolled over it during the night. The best feature of the CPAP hose is the lower cost, since there wasn't a noticable difference in the overall performance between the two hoses. Ive used the CPAP hose for over a year now, and I see no reason to switch.
By Challenge participantGreat | By Challenge participantgood
By Challenge participantThe weight of the hose was considerably lighter than the CPAP Hose. There is less pull against the headgear and more comfort as a result. I hope the lighter material/weight of this hose does not mean that durability is being sacrificed...something that won't bear out until a considerable amount of time in use would reveal. I would not mind paying a few dollars more for the lighter weight of this hose. | By Challenge participantThe CPAP hose is good value for the money and is nice and sturdy and easy to clean. I leave my hose soaking in sudsy water and then rinse well and air dry over the shower head. It is heavier than the Performance hose which is the only negative--it pulls more on the headgear.
By Challenge participantThe tubing seems flimsly, however, after a few days of use this may only be a perception. It seems to work just fine. My only concern would be durability, again based on a perceived lack of quality. if it holds up for six montsh I will be completely satisfied. | By Challenge participantI've never had a problem with this tubing
By Challenge participantOverall a nice hose. The uniquely tapered ends make it very easy to remove -- which is the part I liked most. The hose ends in other hoses I have tried sometimes are hard to remove from my travel machine and this feature on the Performance Tubing made it easier. Both hoses retain the kinks from folding/shipping for quite a while which is the most difficult part of any hose I have tried to date. I know it will "unkink" after a while but until it does it contributes to tangle. I will probably purchase this one again because I like the taper of the hose ends but other than that no significant difference in my mind. | By Challenge participantOverall a nice hose. It is light and durable and holds up well. I have had the Six Foot CPAP hose for quite a while with no noticeable signs of wear. Both hoses retain the kinks from folding/shipping for quite a while which is the most difficult part of any hose I have tried to date. I know it will "unkink" after a while but until it does it contributes to tangle. I can be equally satisfied with this hose if I wouldn't be able to purchase the Performance Tubing. If you are looking to save $5 you will be very satisfied with this hose.
By Challenge participantThe lighter weight is very nice. The improved flexibility also makes a difference. Neither are huge differentiators, but are nonetheless nice to have. | By Challenge participantThe "old standby" does its job well. Nothing seriously wrong with it and definitely capable of getting the job done.
By Challenge participantThe tubing was light and flexible and caused less air leakage from my mask seal when I turned on my side. At times I could hardly notice it was there. | By Challenge participantI have used the tubing for over a year and it seams to be holding up well. It seams a little bit more heavy duty but that adds to it's weight and causes the mask to loss seal more often when I turn in my sleep than the Peformance tubing.
By Challenge participantI did not note any difference in the quietness or seal of either hose. This is lighter in weight, so it does not pull on my mask as much as the Six Foot hose does. However, this hose seems less durable and flexible than the Six Foot hose. There are only 47 reinforcement ribs per foot compared to 56 on the Six Foot hose. Also, this hose appears to be made of a thinner material than the Six Footer. All in all, I think the Six Foot hose is more durable and flexible than this hose. I will stick with the Six Foot hose. | By Challenge participantI noted no difference in quietness or seal between the hoses. This hose weighs a bit more than the competition, but it is much sturdier and durable than the Performance Tubing. There are 56 reinforcement ribs per foot on this hose compared to only 47 for the competitor. All in all, this is the hose for me.
By Challenge participantlike the thicker material, better quality workmanship seems to be more durable don't like the price | By Challenge participantlike the price
By Challenge participantThis product seems to be made more cheaply then the 6 Foot CPAP Hose that I already have for the comparison. The material was thin and I was afraid that I was going to tear the hose when I attached and unattached the tubing from the CPAP machine. | By Challenge participantMy Six Foot CPAP hose seems more durable and seems to be of better quality than the White Performance Tubing. It seems to be of thicker construction, and not as thin. Otherwise, they were pretty equal. I like the ease of connection better in my CPAP hose compared to the White Performance Tubing. It easier to get on and off of my CPAP machine.
By Challenge participantI am very sorry but I honestly could not see, feel, or find a descernable difference in this hose over the old one that I use which is also a Respronics hose. I will however use this tubing as my primary tube, and the old one will be my stand-by hose. | By Challenge participantDitto to the comments on the test Performance Tubing comment board. I DID try to find a difference, but could not.
By Challenge participantThe rubber ends on this hose seemed to get a better seal to my mask. It didn't disconnect from the mask tubing over th trial period. It seemed quieter too. I don't think it is worth the extra $5 cost over the CPAP brand. | By Challenge participantYou can buy 3 CPAP hoses for the price of 2 of the brand name hoses. My CPAP brand hose tends to disconnect from the mask connecter after I've used it for more than 6 months. That is usually the reason I buy a new one. I will continue to buy the CPAP brand because it is the best deal and a good poduct.
By Challenge participantThe tubing was almost too light. It was not as flexible through my hanger system compared to a regular hose. | By Challenge participantWorks fine.
By Challenge participantI liked the fact that it was not as heavy as the six foot hose and that the connections seemed more secure. I had no negative reactions to it. | By Challenge participantThere was nothing about the six foot hose that I liked better. The connection to the cpap machine was not as secure.
By Challenge participantPerformance about the same between the two hoses. Performance hose looked less like medical equipment. | By Challenge participantPerformance about the same between the two hoses.
By Challenge participantThis product is much more flexible and lighter than six foot CPAP Hose is which is important if you move from side to side during the night. The only complaint I might have is that the rubber seal may be a little too tight. | By Challenge participantUnfortunately, the CPAP Hose is very rigid and, therefore, uncomfortable if one moves around a lot during the night. The hose seems to be quite durable and may even last longer than the other product.
By Challenge participantThis hose seems lighter and more flexible than the CPAP hose. I haven't had this hose long enough to know if it's less durable that the Six Foot CPAP Hose as a result in its lighter construction. | By Challenge participantThis hose works fine and considering the price difference I would most likely use this hose. I do notice more tug on my mask with this hose but I am not sure that out-weighs the cost savings.
By Challenge participantHave not been able to really test durability yet. End connectors appear to be better constructed. Longer time of use will tell if durability is better than the standard tubing used previously. | By Challenge participantHave had problems in the past with the end connectors where the tubing has split away from the connector.
By Challenge participantI liked the light weight of the Performance Tubing and also the white color. There was nothing I disliked about the product. | By Challenge participantI like the cost of the Six Foot CPAP Hose. All things considered, I will purchase this product based on cost. There is nothing I dislike about the product.
By Challenge participantThought it was a very good product. Only conern was in 2 weeks can you tell how long will it last. Would recommend based on performance. | By Challenge participantA very good product. Performed quite well. Would recommend based on performance.
By Challenge participantI experienced no difference between the Performance Tubing and the Six Foot CPAP hose. | By Challenge participantI experienced no difference between the Performance Tubing and the six foot CPAP hose. In my opinion the CPAP hose is the superior product because it performs the same as the Performance tubing but costs less.
By Challenge participantLight and airy, a quiet hose with a superior seal. Definitively better experience than the standard 6 ft CPAP hose (4.5 out of 5 ZZZs). | By Challenge participantJust average compared to the performance tubing...adequet but only just so.
By Challenge participantI thought the Performance Tubing was overall a great product and indicated as much in the individual catagories. Durability for both product were rated as "average" as only time will tell to their longevity.(Since I replace my hose every six months or so, I really don't see Durability becoming an issue.)The one aspect of this product that comes to mind is the extreme flexibility that this hose possesses! No matter how I moved at night, the hose moved with me and NEVER had the tendency to bind or kink up. awesome product. | By Challenge participantThe Six Foot CPAP Hose is the current hose that I am using. While it is not as flexible and light(Not MUCH difference in this catagory.), it still does its job and does it well. If the price were the EXACT same for both hoses, I would choose the PERFORMANCE TUBING, otherwise, I am happy with the Six Foot CPAP Hose that I currently use. For the price, it really is an awesome bargain and I will more than likely order this particular product again in six months to replace the one I have now.
By Challenge participantThe performance tubing, kept the air warmer coming in, it was quieter and more flexible. | By Challenge participantThe air coming in is colder, the tube is not very flexible, and it is noisier. |
