Headgear making sores

Post by liquordealer » Mon Jun 16, 2014 1:27 pm

I am getting sores on the back of my head - right where the lower edge of the headgear sits. I have tried two different brands of headgear - the one that came with my ResMed Quattro Air and one from a F&P Simplus. The Simplus headgear is much more comfortable than the Quattro but still is making sores . I have to keep the straps pretty tight to stop leaks and this causes the bottom edge of the back of the headgear to be very tight. I really have no idea what else to do and I'm stuck with this mask until I either win the lottery or a rich uncle I don't know about dies.

check out mask liners, they often help GREATLY with the leak issue.

and, you can buy other masks, there's often someone here wanting to unload some

Check with Padacheek.com for an idea for a back strap cover...extra padding on that bottom strap...or fix up something similar yourself.
You may need to send Karen at padacheek.com an email there and tell her which mask so she can advise which strap cover to try.

Straps shouldn't have to be that tight though. Something may be wrong with size or fitting for you to have to crank down the straps tight enough to dig into the skin.

The best thing you could do for yourself is move.

My first impulse is that your mask does not fit.
If it did, it would not hurt.

Try inserting a piece of cloth between the strap and your head. I suggest this as a stop gap until you find a solution. This will lessen the impact.
