The Nuance Pro is definitely at the very least more comfortable than the swift fx. Is there a single best mask for reducing leaks?
I am going to try not using the side sleeper pro pillow and see if it will leak less. In addition, I now have a problem using the non-side pillow - my eye mask does not completely block out light - it lets in light around the nose area. Does it matter if I sleep on my back more if I can get the VPAP to leak less and do its job? Would a buckwheat pillow help?

The best mask for sealing without excessive leaks is the one that best fits our face.
This is different for everybody, because our faces are different.
The same goes for bed pillows. We need to try every configuration we can think of until we hit the one that works.

Well, can you answer the one question - I bought a side sleeper pro pillow specifically because I thought it was what I SHOULD do. If the leaks get fix is that still true?chunkyfrog wrote:The best mask for sealing without excessive leaks is the one that best fits our face.

In general, yes it is much better if you can sleep on your side most of the night. In my opinion I think you will have less events if you side sleep. I wish I could.....but it is just too painful for me with the other health problems I have. I am forced to sleep on my back, but I elevate the head of my bed (adjustable).
Hope this helps and good luck to you!

That side sleeper pro pillow is not designed for cpap use. It's just a general side sleeping pillow. It doesn't have cut-outs for your mask to fit into, like proper cpap pillows have. And since it doesn't, your mask may still be pressing into the pillow at night when you lay on your side, which will dislodge it and cause it to leak.

The cutout pillows are too shallow for me.ReadyforRest wrote:That side sleeper pro pillow is not designed for cpap use. It's just a general side sleeping pillow. Re: What's the best way to reduce leaks - new problems with nuan
I am not familiar with the side sleeper pro pillow, but have tried a bunch of different pillows,
finding that in my case, the cpap pro with the cut outs is not for me, nor is buckwheat, and a slew of others.
Some I have not tried, because of their expense--and past experience with expensive pillows
(now closeted amongst the dust bunnies). We really need to try a pillow to know if it works.
For me, that means if I can't bring it back, it stays in the store!

Some people on this forum have made their own cut-out pillows. You can do a search here. If you buy some foam, just make cut-outs in each side to suit you and what you like. Then cover it with a pillow case or make a custom-shaped cover for it.
