My swift fx keeps sliding in back
My swift fx keeps sliding in back
Before the Thursday night, I was using a premium respironics chin strap and the swift fx's back strap was on top of the chin strap's back strap. The chin strap moved and the swift fx moved with it, causing leaks. On Thursday I got a Deluxe-Style Chinstrap (Substitute for Respironics Deluxe Chinstrap) https://www.cpap.com/productpage/deluxe ... hleak.html and while that doesn't move, my swift fx is still moving. I am going to putting the chin strap over the swift fx tonight, but does anyone else have any other suggestions?

A small strip of Velcro, the smooth side not the prickly side on the inside of the strap will do the trick. It keeps the strap from sliding and won't stick to your hair.

Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Try putting your hair over the strap. It seems to secure it. Also, possibly it's not tight enough.

Re: My swift fx keeps sliding in back
I've always used the hook side of hook and loop tape, which hangs onto my back hair.
The spongy stuff on the inside of the Nuance back strap would be awesome--even for people with way less (or no) hair.
I'm still looking for this stuff in bulk--so many places I could use it!

I tightened it as much as I could before I slept last night, so I don't think that's it.ems wrote:Try putting your hair over the strap. It seems to secure it. Also, possibly it's not tight enough.

Re: My swift fx keeps sliding in back
Well, last night I used the back velcro strap for the chin strap behind the swift fx backstrap. It held, but now nose pillows hurt my nose because of the extra tightness. Should I switch to another type of nose pillow?

Thanks, but I definitely still want a nose pillow, not a nasal mask. I am thinking of going the hybrid route.ems wrote:fmj13 wrote:Well, last night I used the back velcro strap for the chin strap behind the swift fx backstrap. Re: My swift fx keeps sliding in back
The HOOK side of Velcro (scratchy plastic side) works really well when sewn inside the back strap. No need to over-tighten your mask.

Re: My swift fx keeps sliding in back
I had the same trouble when I first started using mine. I finally realized that I needed to loosen the top strap a lot to let the strap around the back set lower on my head (toward base of skull). Then tightened up the straps to adjust for leaks. Seems to have worked for me. Started sleeping better cause I wasn't waking up as much to fight with the straps riding up in the back and leaking. I was originally wearing the back band around the center of my head, now it is down toward the base of the skull and neck area. When the strap is below the base of the skull and snug (not tight), it's harder for it to slide up.

Re: My swift fx keeps sliding in back
Thanks, woodworker...you may just have solved my problem too. Funny, every time I get a replacement mask I seem to have to go through the whole process of strap adjustment. Sometimes I forget what worked before...or maybe I never knew, but just stumbled on the right adjustment in the first place. So hopefully, now I know and can remember the next time how to adjust things right! And why!
