FitLife Total Face Mask Extra Large

Does anyone use the FitLife in the extra large. I printed out the large sizing gage and with the lower part below my lips the top part falls at the bridge of my nose so it is to small. I'm wondering just how much extra height you get with the extra large and would it be enough to go above my eyebrows. I'm do a new mask on my insurance and I'd hate to get an extra large and find out it doesn't work either. They don't have a sizing gage for the extra large and the large was printed out to scale so that isn't the problem.

If a large is in the proper place at the bottom and still hits your nose at the top, I'd say you clearly need an XL. I can't tell you how much difference there is between a large and an XL but it's significant. I had the same problem with the large and the XL did the trick. I'd be shocked if you or about anyone had a bigger noggin and face than I do. I have to special order motorcycle helmets because a 3X won't do it. And a "one size fits all" cap? No chance. So I bet you'd be fine with the XL; it's a huge mask in and of itself.

By the way, just a hint on fitting the mask. I read where a lot of people seem to have a leak at the top of the mask directly in the middle of the forehead, and I did too. I cured it by just tightening the top strap down a good bit tighter and it worked fine. There's so much seal on the mask the pressure seemed to equalize and it wasn't a problem.

I have the fitlife xl and i find it more comfortable than the large - the measurement from top to bottom on the outer edges is 6 inches - the inner space from top to bottom ( in between the silicon seal ) is 4 and a half inches.

If you check the large sizing gage the part you cut out is four and a half inches so if the extra large is the same as the large it looks like they just made a bigger seal. So at four and a half inches the extra large is to small.

no, i have both masks and the xl is definitely bigger - i can give you the exact measurements of both for comparison if you like

I'm actually considering an Extra Large, too, and would love to find out the dimensions for the cutout. (Respironics should really consider renaming the sizes 'cause it definitely isn't flattering )

Also, do any of you actually use the Extra Large headgear as well? I'm thinking I might need a smaller size. Is it possible to mix the sizes on an order?

Another vote for the XL--which I was using, to my surprise (I'm a small female, but with an oval-shaped face). Note that I needed to buy the L headgear to go with the XL mask because, well, I'm a small female.

I checked out the L template, but it didn't quite clear my eyebrows. But I'm worried the XL will be WAY bigger.

Did you have to put in a separate order (and pay extra) for a smaller headgear? (I understand the XL mask is prepackaged with an XL headgear.)

I didn't go through a DME, so I did have to order L headgear, in addition to the XL mask.

I have used the large Fitlife for several years... before Respironics offered the XLarge. The large will come with a large headgear and the XL will come with the XL headgear. You cannot mix or match, unless you purchase the headgear separately. The difference of the two sizes would be where the mask hits below the lips (above the chin). There should be no worries about where the mask is fitted above the eyes...unless you have a very small forehead.

There is another potential option in headgear. Not only size, but whether the headgear has a chin strap included. I have not tried the version with the chinstrap. Respironics did, some months ago, considerably improve the straps as to length of time they stay flexible, and improve the time the velcro like part continues to work well. So beware of buying older straps, even the proper size.

Since Respironics reinforced the velcro part of the strap with hard plastic... for me, the headgear out-lives the mask. The old headgear would hardly last 3 months and really stretch out a lot.
