Surprised no one's suggested the 'Hybrid' yet - it doesn't cover your nose at all, but does keep you from mouth breathing - check it out here -

Not adjusting to using the CPAP
Re: Not adjusting to using the CPAP
That still looks rather heavy duty for someone who feels anxious wearing a mask.Julie wrote:Surprised no one's suggested the 'Hybrid' yet - it doesn't cover your nose at all, but does keep you from mouth breathing - check it out here -

Re: Not adjusting to using the CPAP
Well, the consequences of untreated apnea are rather heavy duty too.

They tell me it only takes one stroke to ruin an otherwise perfectly good day! That did it for me.....

JeffL wrote:You just need the right mask. Try the ResMed Swift FX Nasal Pillows. It's not even really a "mask". It doesn't even cover you nose. It's just a light weight gizmo that presses against your nostrils, and blows air up your nose. It made CPAP acceptable for me. I sure couldn't handle having my face covered.
This is a good suggestion. If you want the minimum mask out there, the nasal pillows masks are the way to go. I would definitely chech the Swift FX NANO version which just came out. Super small, unobtrusive nasal mask. You will hardly know its even there.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYaujxbr2RI for more cpap wearing anxiety tips. It may help getting used to a mask -- any mask.
With practice you should be used to a mask in no time.
Good luck!

before you go to prescription sleep meds give a shot of ZzzQuil a try. It is NyQuil without any cold medicine. Works great for my wife as she has nightmares on Ambian although it works great for me.

I wasn't suggesting that it go untreated.Julie wrote:Well, the consequences of untreated apnea are rather heavy duty too.
I looked at the link you posted and saw wide straps and a good sized mask. It looked intimidating to me, and I didn't believe it would to far enough to relieve the OP's anxiety. There are less obtrusive options that work very well.
