ResMed Mirage FX Nasal Mask- setting question

Post by bergen » Thu Jun 27, 2013 12:59 pm

Hi-
Trying out the ResMed Mirage FX Nasal Mask (nasal cushions) with my Resmed 8 Autoset II CPAP. I used to use the Twlight mask (nasal pillows).

Resmed said I should use the Swift setting, which is for nasal pillows masks, versus the Activa setting when Activa seems to be a nasal mask.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Also on that note, what exactly do the mask settings do?

If the machine is set at 10.4 pressure with the Activa mask setting, will that provide a different pressure in practice than a 10.4 pressure setting on using the Swift mask setting? If not, then what function do the mask settings have?

Thanks so much-
Ruby

I've been through this myself.

ResMed recommends a setting of "Standard" for the Mirage FX on an S8 machine.

Their chart is attached:

From what I understand it only makes a difference in leak calculation. If you don't have signifigent leaks it makes no difference

It's strange because according to the vent rate graph, the Mirage FX has the same venting as the Mirage Activa,
yet the recommended setting in the chart is "Standard" and not "Activa".
