struggling sleeping, still

Post by CraigC » Wed Jan 12, 2005 9:44 pm

I have had my cpap for about 2 years, i sleep better but i still need a helping hand a couple times a week to sleep. I have to take 2 advil for me to sleep through the night, I figure I shouldn't have to. I contact my specialists and he tells me to adjust my pressures,I have done that sooo many times I lost count, whay are some options I can do to fall asleep better and easier??

Falling asleep

Post by Marie » Thu Jan 13, 2005 10:11 pm

I have been on cpap for just 4 months.I usually wait until I am very very sleepy and tired before I try to sleep.Or I read a few pages of a good book.
When I see my physician,I will ask him if I can take a sleep aid if I need one.I would like to fall asleep earlier than I do because I wake up so early.About the most I can get of straight sleep is 4 hours.
When I talked to a resp.therapist he told me that that is about what most cpap users manage.I would like to sleep about 6 hours a night, but I don't know it it is possible.
Good luck, hope you find a solution

Craig C, have you been properly diagnosed as far as other physical problems? Do you have fibromyalgia? Chronic sinusitis? Anything that is hurting that you ignore all day long by tuning it out? Constant low-level pain or discomfort makes it very hard to fall asleep. Are you getting enough calcium and magnesium in your diet? etc, etc. Your problem may not just be a sleep apnea problem.
