cpap software for Mac Users

I used to have an old PC and I had "encore" loaded on it. It died. I have been using Macs for several years now and find them more stable as a computer, fewer viruses, etc. I do not want to run "parallel" or any other similiar software program mixing PCs and Macs. I don't want to partition the hard drive, etc. ANYWAY, is there a card reader and software that works well that is designed for Mac? Thanks.

The only software that has a Mac version is SleepyHead and it only works on the machines with the SD cards.
Even then it is not compatible yet with the new heated hose 60 series machines.
It won't work on the Respironics machines requiring the use of the Smart Card and the DT3500 card reader.

All the Encore software products are Windows based. No Mac versions of any Encore products.
You either have to use a virtual Windows environment on the Mac (which you say you don't want to do) or get a PC with Windows on it.

Hi, I don't know why you are so against using something like Boot Camp and partitioning your machine... I've done it, it's a snap, I've NEVER been on-line with the Windows side of my iMac Intel and have both Encore and Sleepyhead in there along with a couple of other things not downloaded but installed.... what's the issue?

Have you ever used Parallels on your Mac? The latest version is wonderful and runs fast and smoothly.
I simply installed my old Windows XP disc on it. Microsoft specifically authorizes you to do that as long as the old PC is dead. They will even give you a new license to key in if you prefer, without cost.
There is nothing to it!
What has happened that makes you so resistant to using it?

IMHO you are placing needless limitations on your options.

Personally, I use VMware Fusion on my Mac, and have since 2008. It works very well. I used to use Parallels. It worked fine too. There is even a free virtualization system called VirtualBox, from Oracle that might be worth a shot.

Maybe I need to try some of your suggestions again. I had parallels and it seemed to conflict with my Mac software and it was a nightmare to do away with the partition space when I needed the space for Mac software. I'm apparently not as computer savy as you folks. Thanks for your suggestions.

The nice thing about virtualization these days is that you don't need to repartition your drive (which, I agree, can be a pain). The "disk" for the virtualized Windows machine (in this case) is just a single file. If you run out of space, worst case, just delete the Windows VM file. Also - you can set the virtual machine disk to be a "growable" file. You can set it up to look like a 40 GB partition to Windows, but the VM "disk" starts small, and grows only as large as it needs to be. For example, right now, my Windows VM "looks" to be a 60 GB disk when viewing it in Windows, but the file on the Macintosh is only 25 GB.

If you had trouble with virtualization software before, maybe you were running on minimal ram. Ram is cheap now. For example, you can get 8GB for a MacBook Pro for only fifty-two dollars from OWC.

With that, you can allocate 1GB to your Windows side and have two fast computers (Windows and OSX) running inside one Mac and flip back and forth at will.

You can also set your backup software on the Windows side to just backup your CPAP data into a Mac shared folder; and set your backup (e.g. TimeMachine) to exclude the Windows folder to save backup space and speed up your backups.
