Considering a Contec CMS-50F Pulse Ox

Post by DrowsyDan » Fri Sep 23, 2011 2:43 pm

I'm was considering buying a Contec CMS-50F wrist pulse oximiter at Amazon.com, but I'm little concerned about some of the negative comments in reviews there. http://www.amazon.com/Contaclab-Contec- ... ef=lh_ni_t Seems like the least expensive wrist type unit, I wonder if those who've had one awhile would you recommend it to others.

Also, my PC is Windows 7 64 bit. Anyone use the Contec CMS-50F with that OS, especially 64 bit?

TIA

I recently bought the CMS-50F (on Ebay), and used it only once to test, before giving it to a family member I suspect of OSA. But, it seemed to work fine; and the software seemed to run without problem on my Windows 7 (home premium) 64-bit OS computer--I recorded one night and then downloaded and viewed. I installed the software from the mini-CD included. There's also a site someplace that has the various software versions available to download. If you experience any problems running the software, try one of the compatibility modes.

One odd thing that threw me at first was that the screen readout was upside down, when installed on the left wrist as pictured. But, reading the manual, I discovered you can select the screen orientation.

I personally would not buy from FaceLake - they are EchoStore and were a royal PITA to deal with about the faulty CMS 50E - I not only lost my purchase price for a worthless toy, I lost the cost to ship the first one back with tracing. They didn't answer phone well etc.

I bought mine from amazon but that particular vendor I purchased from doesn't have them. I have seen this other vendor selling the CMS 50F as "fulfilled by amazon" twice over weekends including last weekend. That is the way to buy it - if it is a POS amazon will deal with you and they do a hell of a lot better with customer problems. If I replace this one that is the way I will buy the next one unless I buy from pulseoxstore (and yes I know he is higher priced but I think he will stand behind the quality of his products a lot better than FaceLake could even dream of)
