Finally, getting a BIPAP, yeah!

Post by ShelleyH » Wed Aug 24, 2011 8:56 am

Okay, I had another follow up with doctor and explained that the drug therapy to get me to have a better night sleep in order to sleep better at the next sleep study was not working. I already know I have sleep apnea and struggle with aerophagia and my oxygen falls to 86%.

So, he said, "well, I guess we can try a BIPAP machine." I told him I have done some research on them and it appears that one may help. I wanted to buy one on-line but he would only write an "order" not a prescription for one. So, I went to the hospital which is our DME who has a respiratory therapist which was his concern.

Oh well, I will rent it and see what happens. At least it's a step forward:)

They had to order one - S9 VPAP? I will be able to track data with this as I undderstand it, right?
Thanks!

I would expect the data from a S9 VPAP to be similar to the S9 VPAP Auto I have. You will need the current version of ResScan (search for posts by Uncle_Bob, a link to download ResScan is in his signature) and a SD card reader.

Sure hope the machine gives you some better results. That O2 sat is not acceptable. Keep us posted. You got a good machine. The ResMed site should give you information on the data capabilities.

What's the main difference between bipap and cpap?
