Any recommendations for good book on OSA
Any recommendations for good book on OSA
I am looking for a good book on OSA that I can share with family and friends. Those that do not understand the risks of OSA and why is soo important to me to treat my OSA. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't remember the titles but a web search on Steven Y Park and on Barry Krakow will bring up their websites and you can find their books there. Dr Park is in NY and I don't remember where Dr Krakow is located.

You can try amazon.com, it seems like I've seen some books on OSA on there.
Re: Any recommendations for good book on OSA
Mike Moran's book "This Book Blows" is a great one to have. It isn't a text on how to use CPAP, but is instead a humorous look at therapy. I found it to be very helpful when I wanted to give up =)

Do you really think they will read a book on sleep apnea?msradar65 wrote:I am looking for a good book on OSA that I can share with family and friends. Those that do not understand the risks of OSA and why is soo important to me to treat my OSA. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Dr. Barry Krakow is located in Albuquerque, NM and has written great books.
Sound Sleep, Sound Mind -http://sleeptreatment.com
Turning Nightmares Into Dreams - http://www.nightmaretreatment.com ( or on Amazon)
Insomnia Cures - http://sleeptreatment.com
I've read all of his books and highly recommend them all!

Re: Any recommendations for good book on OSA
I was thinking the same as nightmonkey - I couldn't get friends and family to read a brief, simple card on diabetic etiquette - no chance of them reading a book on OSA. I'd be lucky to stop their eyes glazing over before they read a title.

Good book that helped me tremendously "Snoring and Sleep Apnea" Sleep Well Feel Better" by Ralph Pascualy, MD, he is a nationally recognized sleep specialist out in Seattle, WA. The book discusses lots of helpful areas from why to cpap masks, explains lots of things I needed help when first diagnosed in 2008. [cost $24.95, you probably can get on amazon.com] Good luck this book will help

I second this choice as a good introduction.Catatrina wrote:"Snoring and Sleep Apnea" Sleep Well Feel Better" by Ralph Pascualy, MD, he is a nationally recognized sleep specialist out in Seattle, WA.
Also available online via Google Books. The spouse should "love" just looking at the cover page.
His group has some online video discussions at http://www.gosleep.com/patient-information.htm
