OT Where to get high in Colorado

Post by carbonman » Sat Apr 02, 2011 5:06 pm

I rode the big loop around the city today.
It was warm....almost hot, sunny day.
Riding in jersey/shorts.....felt naked......
felt so good. So ready for summer cycling.

It was also very clear. More wind.
Blowing a storm in.....hopefully some rain/snow.

From out east got some pics of the front range 14'ers.

Pike's Pk massive 90miles to the south.

Mt. Evans Massive across Cherry Ck. res. ~50miles west
Summits from left to right:
Rosalie Pk/Epaulet Mt./Mt. Evans/Mt. Spalding/Mt. Warren/Roger's Pk.
You can even see the road as it climbs around Warren/Rogers Pk.

Mt. Meeker/the top of Long's Pk. 70miles north/FlatIrons in the foreground on the left
/to the left of Mt. Meeker are: Pagoda Mt. /Chiefs Head Peak
/the two buildings are the Republic Plaza(~70 stories)
and Wells Fargo Cntr. (~69 stories) sticking up from down town Denver.

...and in between, Indian Peaks Wilderness ~40miles west of Boulder.

I am a Denver native and usually just
pedalling my tail around town .....so to speak.
It was an unusually fine day....for pics and cycling.

Thanks!

You're making me miss those few years I spent on the front range. Sigh. Boulder was great, but Louisville and Lafayette seem to have merged into one big sprawl, and I think that would be sad to see. They were just separate villages when I was there in the '70s.

But those mountains . . . . (sigh)

I heard you can get high anywhere in Colo. if you have a doctor's prescription.

Beautiful! I had forgotten how pretty CO is. We're going out there in June, I think.

Yes, you could get high anywhere in Colorado with a doctor's prescription. Or, you could just hike up to the mountains. Yesterday we had highs in the 80's, and today it snowed, but I'm very grateful that I get to live here.

Great pix! I was just in Denver over the weekend, for the Rockies' opening game and then the Sat. game as well. The weather was beautiful!! Toiday going home, though, not as good, so I really lucked out for the games. Now, it is snowing and accumulating on my deck....ugh! I am over winter.
