oxygen got down to 77 % last night

Post by EricinNC » Wed Mar 23, 2011 11:01 am

Had three events under 88%, one went all the way to 77%. Looks like my APAP and current settings aint cutting it. I am about ready to give up and go off to die somewhere.

Check your data and see how long it took to fall to 77%. Sometimes your finger will move and cause an artifact that results in a rapid drop.

Um, ok. I have a high end oximeter that cost me over a thousand. It has a motion artifact thing that claims a deviation of plus minus 3 points is there. I dont think motion artifact caused that. Even if its 80%, thats still darn low.

I suspect that OP is on quite a few "Foe" lists and posts go unseen or just ignored.

It is nice that you have a quality oximeter, but the question was over how many seconds did the desaturation occur?

I have a basic, run-of-the-mill wrist oximeter and took a short recliner nap (sans equipment) yesterday. Mine gave me this information:

Desats -- 4
Time in events: 2.0 min.
Avg Event Duration: 30 secs (hmm...math adds up pretty well there, doesn't it)?
% artifact: 0.0
Basal Sp02(%): 95.1
Minimum Sp02: 89
Average Low Sp02: 90.8

If mine can give these answers, his high dollar one should be able to as well. Plus, I can pull up the specifics and see EXACTLY how long the minimum desat lasted.
