Ok, it was bound to happen Last night was not a good night. I had gone to the fabric shop and bought 2 layered fleece, velcro and fabric glue (a seamstress, I am not) to make a homemade hose cover due to the major rainout I 've been having, but I didn't have time last night to actually make the cover (by the way, ended up spending $20 at the fabric store, so not sure that I saved myself much money )
Anyhow, went to bed late, my Aura headgear wasn't staying as well put as it had the first two nights, causing leakage. I readjusted several times, and fell asleep. I woke up at 2:30with a sore throat and an unexpected nasal rinse from the rainout drowning me (imagine snorking water up your nose while sleeping). I sat up to take off my mask, and the tubing of my Aura pulled off of the coupler that attaches the mask to the hose from APAP. I'm all wet, now there's air blowing everywhere and my mask is "broken".
My hubby fixed the mask with some electrical tape - I told him he was a great "lab rat" (especially at 2:45 in the morning). I changed pillow cases, turned my humidifier down a notch and went back to bed. I was so tired, I just decided to ignore the Chinese water torture (aka rainout)
One of the first things I did this morning was to make my hose cover, glued velcro to the inside top of the material, and velcro on the outside bottom of the material, easy on and off. My hope is that it will keep the air warmer (which will help with my sore throat - I am very sensitive to cold air) and end the rainout. I'll let you know how it works out.
Third night not a charm....

Newgal,
It was bound to happen, either sooner or later. You can't have 100% positive nights. The best advice I could offer is to be as grounded as you seem to have been so far and just take things as they come, with that positive attitude you've seemed to exhibit thus far. Just like everything else in life, there's good and bad with this treatment. And if you just go with the flow and know that this is the way it is, you'll continue to do as fine as you have been doing. There are always more kinks to work out in the beginning, too, or when you change masks/equipment as you go along. But you sound like you have it under control already, which is really a plus.

Thanks all. You know, this afternoon when I posted this, I was still sorta rehashing the night, and it felt good to get it out. Since then, I've been thinking that I am REALLY lucky to have found you all, because if this is the worst I can complain about, I am doing just fine. You all have given me such great support, and your knowledge is vast. Anytime I have spare time, I cruise through the "old" posts, and just try to absorb all of the information. I think that has been what has made this whole experience, on a whole, a pretty easy one. It helps, too, knowing that if I get stuck, I can post it, and someone will reply back quickly with any help they can offer and always an encouraging word. (sorry, this is starting to sound like a drunk, "I love you, man!") rambling, so I'll stop now.
Sleepless in LI,
Thanks for the compliment, it's reassuring that you think I've been level headed about this - at least you haven't seen me all grumpy (hopefully, you all never will....) I know there are bound to be bumps, and from this forum, I can already see that some people have much higher hills to climb. I am grateful that I am adapting, and am committing to overcome any obstacle that might affect my compliance. In the short amount of time I've done APAP, I have already seen marked improvement in my mood (less irritable, kinda happy), lessened hand/joint pain, and more energy. I will keep praying for continued success for me and for all of my fellow hoseheads.

Newgal,
Your reply indicates exactly what I wrote, you exhibit a positive and realistic attitude that will get you over those hills and bumps. You obviously did your homework and have learned one of the most important things, that you can always post and reach out to someone who will help you over those hurdles or just use this site as a venting place. Keep up the great work.
