How happy are you with your mask?

I was just curious about how everyone else really felt about their masks.

Mask happiness is a complicated issue. I really like my Hybrid, but I have made some "fixes" to get it to perform even better. Still open for other possibilities, but nothing I've seen looks like it'd be any better.

Sorta sounds like choosing a mate, doesn't it?

My mask is my "cocoon of solitude". I don't think I could sleep well without it now.

I've had 4 masks, in this order: Swift LT, Swift LT for Her, Sleepweaver, Swift FX. They've all been okay, but I'm planning on another Sleepweaver when I'm eligible to order again. Used them all just as they came, no personalized additions or tweaks.

I have a zest nasal mask and I really do like it alot It's the first mask I tried and just to be sure it was great I tried some others with complete failure so went back to Zest. I now have it in the Petite size. I had to shorten the straps on the back of the mask (that ones that go up and down and connect the top and bottom) to make it feel right but otherwise I love it.

I am Extremely Happy with my mask - the Aeiomed Headrest. I only wish that my DME would understand that.

I tend to think they are not getting a kickback from Aeiomed. tsk, tsk

When I started with them, I was told the reason they don't carry certain masks is cuz they don't work. Turns out the ones they did carry didn't work. But then they hadn't heard about the Aussie heated hose or even a hose cover either.

Then, then they want me to believe I am the only person who ever had a problem finding a mask that didn't leak. Can you imagine?

My guess is they haven't heard of Google or the internet either.

2.5 months to get a mask then it was the wrong one. So then another 2.5 months to get a mask then its the wrong size. But now that I have a mask that fits and works they don't want me to use it. Tell me I'm dreaming.

I love my mask. And the person who gave it to me.

There is no perfect mask. I've tried six so far, and each one is both good and "bad" for one or more reasons. If I had the time, I'd perfect one.

As for now, any of the masks or pillows are better than none !

It's 5:15 am Sunday morning and I'm on the Cpap forums, I guess I 'm still working on finding the right mask for me. So far I've used the Activa LT no luck with that one, Quattro , I like but have a lot of leak problems. Swift FX which is my preferred so far, I have a lot of issues with the strap placement though, tried the velcro tip on the back strap. I have to wear some type of thin cap tio keep it from sliding on my hair. I just recieved the Hybrid , the first night I used the medium oral cushion and medium nasal pillow, it felt great at first but started leaking at 3:am and that was it. Last night I used the same but leaked from the start ended up at 1:30 changing to a small cushion/medium pillow, felt great but I could NOT fall asleep, so basically I have not slept at all and I'm on this computer ready to tear my hair out.

If you liked the Quattro and yet it leaked... see if you can try the UMFF (Ultra Mirage Full Face). Seems that a lot of the folks that can't get the Quattro to work, can get the UMFF to work.

As for the Hybrid... did you watch the fitting video?

brazospearl, what fixes did you make with your mask? I'm happy with my Mirage Liberty but still get an occasional leak when the pressure is high.

I still lookto be happy with a mask. I get of them and change often. It never do 3 nights in a row without something, leaks of course.
I tried 3 masks : Swift LT but I am a mouth breather and it is awaking me; the Quattro hurts me on the nose and my eyes are really bad in the morning;, I insisted to try the Mirage liberty I found it noisy. That was it the RT told me that the have no more solution!!! I went out of there with the Quattro and the Swift LT.
So, from CPAP.com, I try the oral mask but was not for me. I bought the Hybrid and the ZZZ mask. It is a bit expensive to buy some other masks even if I can return them.

I put alternativly the Hybird and the ZZZ, sometimes the Swift with the papcap.
I am waiting for the Quattro FX or some other ideal one.

Take care.

Excellent advice. The UMFF seems to fly under the radar around here but a lot of people use it with very good results. It's my eighth mask in three and a half months, and I've tried both hybrids, a ComfortFull 2, and a F&P 431. My DME pushed the Quattro and I insisted otherwise. My AHI has been <5 every night since and most mornings I check to see if it's still on my face when I wake up.

And, my husband likes it because the exhaust vent seems to be positioned a little differently and air has more of a tendency to blow up and away instead of directly at him.

I really like the FX for Her, but I have had to make some adjustments. One issue was that the part of the mask where the cloth backstrap coming into the silicone part would dig into my head when I was sleeping on my side and using my hubby as my pillow. The full-over-the-head fleece pad from Pad-a-Cheek helped solve that issue (Thanks!). LIkewise, Pad-a-Cheek's barrel cozy solved the problem of the silicone barrel bothering the area below my nose and above my upper lip. Finally, I've had to work seriously on figuring out a way to difuse the exhaust flow. Some tips from cpaptalk helped on that issue.

So with these three tweaks, I find the FX very comfortable and easy to sleep with. I also get really good seals most of the time even with sleeping on my side. [More often than not, my 95% leak rate is 0.0 L/min according to the S9.]
