Back Noodle or Mand. Adv. Device helpful WITH CPAP?

Post by Sillyme » Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:18 pm

When I was trying to find ways NOT to go on CPAP I found an idea for a vest with a foam noodle inserted down the back to make it difficult to sleep on the back. I also sent for a mouth piece to hold the lower jaw forward. I wonder if either of these would work well in conjunction with CPAP. Didn't have time to try either one before my neuro explained my test results. Anyone (lucky enough to have a machine with feedback) seen an improvement in numbers with either of these?
What!!? Wylie was trying to eat me.
Any time spent being unhappy is wasted.

Hi SillyMe

I do not have the experience you are after, but I would think that many of us would be interested.

You might have to experiment yourself, but I see that you might not have a data capable machine. I hope that you will eventually be able to get a data capable machine (better for your treatment anyhow) and then try the experiment, and let us know how you go.

cheers

I use my Puresleep mouth guard with my nasal pillows at the recommendation of my sleep study tech. It helps me keep my mouth closed (most of the time), and seems to keep me from the obstructive episodes.

I found that I do go slack-jawed at some point during the night, so I've taken to making a chinstrap out of self-adhesive ACE bandage, and I'm all good.

Don't know if this helps...

Steve
