I think that was before humanity discovered that ALL cigars are actually UFO's... the ones necessitating our tin foil hats...

I'm sure if Freud were alive today he would knowingly nod at that statement.

That's not the fish.

That's the BAIT.

Wait'll you see the fish...

note to self: forget about getting that larger worm and bobber... go out and buy a python and 55-gallon drum instead.

Oh, thank you, thank you for your comments. They are soooooo true. I am an occupational therapist who has had to explain to far too many
nurses how a CPAP works and why using O2 does not accomplish the same thing. Can you say airway blockage? Do you even know that extra O2 as opposed to room air is not going to get the lungs if the airway has collapsed? I believe that stupidity is rampant among patients and some healthcare pros. And unfortunately, you can't learn common sense in school.

Since I have used CPAP for more than 10 years with varying degrees of comfort and compliance I am a huge advocate for addressing it. Some of my routine evaluation questions are: how well do you sleep, do you feel rested in the morning, DO YOU SNORE, how many times do you wake up in the night and how many times do you get up to pee during the night. I have suggested sleep studies to many patients who can not understand why they would be sleep deprived when they get up to pee five times a night and sleep all day in their easy chairs. I have tried to get numerous docs to address excessive urinary frequency so the patient can get full night's sleep with very little cooperation.

I have HTN which I was told was from unaddressed OSA as well as a few heart issues that luckily have not caused any problems except for Atrial flutter. I explain to patients that untreated OSA can cause strokes and MIs. The usually reply is "...well iI couldn't stand that mask." Most don't know they can get different style masks and that it might take several months to adjust to CPAP.

Guess I have become an over informed consumer and find it hard to understant why patients are not interested enough in their own well being to educate themselves on health care issues. Stupidity and laziness abound.

By the way my husband died of a heart attack in our living room and yes, I will say to people well you could have a heart attack without CPAP because they need to hear the hard unvarnished truth from someone since docs usually don't or won't say it so people get it.

Oh No, here comes another one! It's too bad that in all your years "with varying degrees of comfort and compliance" you didn't become really educated on this forum sooner. I'm sure it would have made all the difference in your therapy. It might also have improved your attitude, or maybe not!

Oh for crickey sakes, snoozeandlose1, did you really want to come hear and have your first post be not only thanking the banned manic idiot who made
those comments but agreeing that patients are stupid? Youre going to be quite an asset to the community if you keep this up..

This country was founded on freedom.........unfortunately or fortunately we are all different. Working now in education and in health care prior, I too admit that I get frustrated by individuals who truly don't care and come across as stupid or lazy. But it is their choice and their freedom to do so or be. I probably cannot change them, and I accept that.

Unfortunately or fortunately, again, there are consequences for the choices we make. If individuals choose to make poor choices, they reap the consequences, and I don't feel sorry for them. It's not that I am not empathetic.

My response, however, is my choice and responsibility. I choose not to get involved or let individuals who frustrate me rule my attitude. My husband died young too due to foolish behavior that might have been avoided. I got to raise our two little ones alone. It's been a tough but blessed road to hoe... Those that don't want to hear the truth, will not--whether is is plain and unvarnished or hidden in nicey-nice words. None the less, other people are not going to ruin my attitude or life. I choose to believe that 98% of the world is honest and loving and supportive and empathetic and making appropriate choices with reasonable intelligence.
