Novice poster needs help please
There have been times I'd like to comment on or ask a question about someone's post, but I must be doing something wrong when trying to put a quote into the box. I can get their post up to comment about, but when I click "preview" there is no box that says "So and so wrote".
I need for one of you highly intelligent hose heads to give me a hand with this please.
Thanks bunches,
Esther

Esther,
Are you using the box at the top right that says "Quote" because that not only puts in the quote, but the user's name. Don't feel so bad. Up until just recently, I used to highlight the quote and use the old copy/paste in a reply box. It never said the poster's name, but I would fill it in with "So And So Writes:" and then paste the quote below it.
Let me know if this helps answer your question.

Can I quote you on that?

OK I'll try it and see.
Now how did that happen? I had been using the "quote" button before, but when I would preview it, it wouldn't be in the box. O well, I'm just glad it works now. Guess I'm just a slow learner.
Thanks, Lori.

You know, I might have been deleting one of the "quote" in brackets that come at the beginning and end of the message I wanted to reply to when I would delete some of the text. Maybe that was confusing the system. Maybe I'm just confusing everybody now.

Esther,
Whenever you want to start a quote and end a quote, you have to have the
Hope that helps.

If you know what to look for when you do it, you will be able to tell if you deleted a part of it. You can also take away a certain part of the whole post when quoting as long as you leave the front part,WHATEVER NAME wrote:, and the end has the

It looks like a bunch of people have figured it out now. Congratulations!
Funny you say that because, for the longest time, I would write above the quote box, "WAFlowers writes:" I finally gave up and just started putting the highlighted text in the quote box...UNTIL you told me how to get the name in there (phew). Thank you!

You're right, Amy. I thought I wrote that in this explanation. I did, though, earlier when I explained it to someone else under a different thread about Apnea Duration Increased. I noticed that my typing it out caused it to come out in a quote, now that I looked back to if I really hadn't included it. I thought I had. But you're right. What I wrote, and the end being with the bracket, forward slash, the word quote and then a closing bracket. Good catch. Thank you.Anonymous wrote:Lori, you also have to have a /quote in brackets at the end of the quote...to mark the end of the quote. I can't actually show you the /quote in the [ ] brackets because the system will interpret it's function and not display it.....I hope I made sense.
