PR System One SD card - Encore 2.2 says NO DATA

Post by cpapernewbie » Tue Mar 02, 2010 7:49 pm

well, today I launched the the EP 2.2 and then slip in the SD card. Windows XP detect the card and immediately opened the Sd card and displayed the content of the card.

However this time, EP refused to read the card and there is a message that the SD card is corrupted and suggested to do a checkdisk. I did a CHKDSK - it is formatted as FAT32- no error, nothing. I can view the content etc

Slip this SD card again, XP detect it and open the directory et... Tried to download again with EP 2.2 - the SD card is there but nothing can be downloaded - message "no data"

Give up even though I know for sure that last night data is there in the SD card... slip it back into PR System One...

If anybody has encountered this problem, let me know what you do to solve this problem.

It seems that XP has no problem with this SD card, but EP 2.2 first consider this SD card as corrupted and when I try again, it says no data...

Was this the card that came with the machine ? (i.e. not one you have purchased yourself).

To any other users with SD cards can one of you with any tech skills confirm if the cards are formatted as FAT32 or as FAT (FAT16). The hope is that the cpap machines (both the Respironics & Resmed) use FAT32 cards because if they do then users should be able to use 2 & 4 GB cards to hold the data.

A seperate issue might be as to if Encore Pro 2.2 (& I guess ResScan 3.10) both can read large files if we start using larger cards.

Interesting challenge.

Good luck with this one - hope it turns out to be a simple issue.

PS I am working on the assumption you have an Auto & that makes it a data capable model

DSM,

this card is the same card that come with the CPAP device when i bought it. I have downloaded this almost daily. The last download was yesterday.

I wonder if it was pushed home all the way in the machine ? - am sure you would have known if it was.

Can't think of any other reason it might play up other than that these cads don't like being removed if being written to.

Is there a set of instructions in the manual advising how to remove the card ?
Am wondering if there might be a 'push xyz button' type event before removing it ?

Good luck

cpapernewbie,

I see from the time of your post that you are probably trying to download the data before midday. The PR1 writes data to the SD card around midday. You can trick the machine to write it earlier by changing the GMT offset.

Keep the card inserted and try again after noon and the data should be there.

most sd cards have a locktab on the side . if this is in the locked position the card may not be readable. sometimes it is readable but not writable. i've noticed it depends mostly on the reader.
could be the writing time as stated.
may be something with the program. when in doubt - reboot your computer

well, I will report again what happened today

Nothing - I waited until evening to download this SD card and everything is smooth sailing, just like before I hit the NO DATA message yesterday.

I can download data as normal, I have no errro message like yesterday.

Is it because of the GMT settings? I have set my GMT setting in the Encore Proo 2.2 at GMT-8 (PST) and yesterday when I failed to download, the time was about 2 PM, so it is after 12 ..

Also it has nothing to do with the write protect feature of the SD card, which is not ON at all time

FYI, my SD card is formatted as FAT32 and is 2 GB in size....

until next time

cpapernewbie,

I think that the machine only writes the data to the card after noon. That is why you have to wait until afternoon to download it each day. When you try to download it before it writes the new data for the previous night, you get the mesage "NO DATA", which really should be "NO NEW DATA" on the card. So, it is normal to get the NO DATA message when you attempt to downlaod data that has alredy been read before. The data is stored in the machine until it writes it to the card. That is how I think it works, anyway.

Just wait until after noon each day to download the previous night's data, and you should be okay.

Barry
I received that NO DATA message at around 5 PM (my time, PST). The time in my Encore Pro is also set to PST.

In this case probably the time in my PR System One (which under the newer firmware 1.20 - is GMT 1 AM and cannot be adjusted) is the one that override the other time setting.

That's interesting. How do you know what time zone your System One machine is set to, though, if you don't have a setting for it? The only place I can see the time zone on the machine is in the window when I can set it.

Barry
you are correct. I am assuming that the PR system one is running at GMT time zone; GMT+0
I have no proof that this is so, I just read this somewhere ...

Total bummer that you have to wait until noon... and that your SD card is not showing data.
We have to wait an hour on the M-Series Pro, but not until noon.
Why on earth would they make you wait until NOON?
