Vertigo (dizziness)
I have been experiencing positional vertigo (dizziness when head is in certain positions) the past few days and am wondering if the APAP is at least exacerbating the condition. It seems to start at night after I have been sleeping. Could the air pressure from the APAP be forcing debris into the ear canal? Anyone else have this problem?

I had the same problem (called Benign Peroxsysmal Postional Vertigo)last year
after scuba diving which lasted all summer. After it subsisded I still wasn't sleeping well which led me to getting a sleep study where it was determined that I had OSA.
I would suspect something other than CPAP caused the problem.

Hi Sleepopotamus,
You raise an interesting point for me. I was passing out when standing or sitting but not lying down as far as I know. Dizzy to the extreme and some called it vertigo.
Had the Aortic heart valve replaced but no pacemaker. Some time later, approximately 6 months, I started passing out for no particular reason. This was very disturbing as well as dangerous.
Specialist prescribed the pacemaker and have no problem since.
My questions to you are - do you have high/low blood pressure, heart problems or any anxiety/depression?
Your theory about xPAP and ear issues may well have some merit but just seems odd to me when there could be other problems.
Vertigo is not a fun thing, hope you get it corrected.

check your blood pressure, if your still taking medication for it. This happens often, patients are taking medication for hypertension then go on cpap and keep on taking the hypertension medication, they end up with hypotension before they know it.
Hypotension (or low blood pressure) is more dangerous than hypertension. When you have this you should elevate your feet above your heart. Hypotension can make you dizzy when going from a sitting to standing position, as mentioned so can congestive heart failure. There can be many causes, low on Potassium, dehydration, medication, etc. If this dizziness is accompanied with changes in vision or tingling to the lip area you should see your doctor right away as it could be signs of an impending stroke. If it were me, I'd take an aspirin every day.
If you have had vertigo for more than a year your doctor needs to refer you to see a neurologist where you should have a MRI scan of the brain, you could have had a stroke impacting the cerebellum (mini brain) or the brain stem. Low blood flow to the brain can also cause vertigo, such as from a clogged carotid artery, this could cause the vertigo when going from a sitting to standing position. When you stand up it takes a lot of blood to the large leg muscles to lift your body, this can rob blood flow destined for the brain (result is vertigo). Ask your doctor about vitamin B-12 & Folate, these promote blood flow to the brain.

I have battled vertigo on and off for years. I do have very low blood pressure 112/68, guess that is better than too high. I have had an MRI to ensure that I didn't have a growth on my inner ear and have tried many different meds. Fortunatley I don't have a growth, but none of the meds helped. The doc's couldn't really find anything wrong, which is good i guess...
I guess I am just one dizzy chicky!
