Respironics machine prices on CPAP.COM

Post by TennesseeCattleman1 » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:39 pm

I noticed the Respironics cpap machines are now listed at MSRP prices & no bundle discounts on CPAP.COM. Does anyone know what's up with this?

I wonder if it's just while they straighten out some quirky bundles. I noticed a couple of bundles two weeks ago that were more expensive than buying the items "a la carte".

The bundles are there.

Don't know what to say about the MSRP thing, though.

Am I remembering right? Did not Respirionics and ResMed require all internet sellers to advertise/sell at MSRP. I was under the impression if you called for a price they could tell you the best price they could sell it for but it can not be advertised.

I have a funny feeling that Respironics got too many complaints from the *evil DME's* and told CPAP.COM flat-out that no discounts may be offered. One machine I follow the price on (BiPAP SV bundle) went up nearly $2,000. If this is the case, I feel very sorry for Johnny, who is probably going to sell far fewer machines, and be stuck with a bunch of inventory that doesn't move.

For Respironics side, this is a good way to be slapped with a restraint of trade lawsuit.

And I don't see any 'call for pricing' messages.

Sickening.

I had not looked in a while but I just looked at several of the internet sellers that used to have the "call for pricing" note on their website and they seem to all be gone. I guess they put more pressure on the sellers.

Looks like they now say "chat for price" on each item.

I noticed that earlier today. Now the "chat for price" is gone.

Screw them! NOT cpap.com and other internet sellers - those who are pushing the MAP policy thingie. I'll still make my phone call and ask if the have an "unadvertised sale price" and hope for the best.

Isn't it 'restraint of trade' to force dealers to charge a certain price?

I am sick of this greed on the part of the equipment manufacturers.
