My supplier is also sending me an ACR38U replacement. If the Resscan software and hardware setups are any indication of the quality of medically related software products then we are in deep trouble. This is a pretty crappy setup and difficult to get running. No wonder doctor offices are always filled with their support people.

I have the Resmed branded ACR38 card reader and on the bottom it says p/n ACR38U-PNC.

It has a blue plastic card guide and a picture on the top side of the card with the contact side up.

Works fine and I have a wireless network ( IT SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY TO DISABLE A WIRELESS NETWORK ) and have used this device under Windows XP 32 bit and now under Windows 7 64 bit.

At one time the screws that hold it together got a bit loose and that allowed the card to slide too far in.

I tightened up the screws and no problem since then.

After I installed Windows 7 I simply hooked up the device and Windows recognized it and had drivers for it. Didn't need any software.

Plug and play just as it should be.

You may have a defective unit ... or the screws might be a bit loose and the card isn't aligning right.

Might want to return it and get a Resmed branded unit.

If you buy the Resmed branded reader it's usually straight forward installation.

If you decide to save money and not buy the Resmed reader, you are trading off savings against possibly increased difficulty.

You made you a trade-off choice, so there''s no point in comlpaining about it after the event.

Cheers,

Bill

Well I got my new ACR38U-SPC-R reader last night and plugged it into my Vista 32 laptop. A driver automatically loaded,I opened Resscan 3.7,slid my data card into my homemade guidecard, and slid the card into the reader. Bam ,it download data just like it was suppose to. I did not get a chance to try the correct driver for the 38C reader that Bill Bolton found so I don't know if that will work(returned 38C reader) . I do know that it works beautifully with the right reader.

Got my ACR38-U today. Plugged it into my Vista machine and the software recognized it with no issues and I downloaded the data. Now I can start some serious monitoring of my mask options to determine the best setup.

Hey guys! I know this thread is old, but I found it while Googling this issue (while on the phone with ResMed) and I didn't see the resolution I found, so I thought I would throw it out here.

When ResScan was trying to detect the card reader (IOGear 56 in 1 Reader), windows would successfully detect the reader and card, but not ResScan. The culprit ended up being Encore Anywhere's Data Card Server (which was running at boot). Closing this allowed "devicescan2" (an exe in found in Task Manager) from ResScan to run properly and detect the reader.

So if you have any other card-reading programs, make sure they're completely closed out.

Hope this helps someone.
