Poll: Mask Cleaning Frequency
Poll: Mask Cleaning Frequency
Curious. Seems we have a great variance in how often we clean our masks and what we use to clean our masks.

The Liberty mentions cleaning the mask everyday which I am currently following. To clean the mask, I used Ivory washing liquid,

I rinse it out daily with hot water, and once a week I give it a good soak in baby shampoo.

Soap and hot water daily. Take it apart and scrub individual parts weekly, and give it a good soaking in gentle shampoo.

Re: Poll: Mask Cleaning Frequency
I have a Hybrid and I clean the cushion and nasal cusions every day, the hard part of the mask every other day, and the head-gear once a week.
I started out using a mild dishwashing liquid as per the instructions of the DME nurse...but I switched over to Johnson's Baby Shampoo at the suggestion of someone from Cpap.com.
Well...I found the baby shampoo left a residue and I had problems with one cusion degrading after a month of use so I switched back to a mild dishwashing soap.
That just didn't seem to clean the cushion well enough -- still had a film left on it.
Soooooo...I got a mild (and cheap) clarifying shampoo...and my cushion is now as clean-as-a-whistle and it adheres much better to my face.

So... if you put clarifying shampoo on your head, does everything suddenly become clear..? I could use some of that.
To the topic at hand, I almost never clean the hard plastic. The gasket gets cleaned about every two weeks, when the leakage gets bad. And I replace the gasket out-of-pocket at three months. By that point, nothing seems to help it get that nice tacky finish that I need for a good seal. Insurance buys a new mask at 6 months.

I throw mine in the swimming pool one a week after the cats lick it off for a few days. Does that count?
Re: Poll: Mask Cleaning Frequency
i would like to say i clean my mask every day...but it ends up being every 2nd or 3rd day. i use ivory liquid and water for the first treatment/soak...and then after an hour or so, i switch it all over to a vinegar and water tub to soak another hour or so.
wash out the hose and humidifier around once a week....
no real schedule to it...just when i remember it's time!
