having to pay for supplies out of pocket

Post by piggy mask girl » Thu Sep 17, 2009 6:40 pm

I have a cpap machine and use a Mirage Quartro Full Face Mask. My insurance pays for half the rental of the machine every month. I pay the other half. Anthem BC BS does not cover my supplies. I was told I had to get them directly from my supplier, very expensive. I would like to buy my supplies on line with my MD's Rx. I was told I can not buy my "supplies" on line unless they are covered by insurance. Is this true? I work full time as a RN and can pay out of pocket. Does anyone have answers to this? Have any of you used a site on line to buy supplies through a credit card?

If you have your prescription you can buy wherever you want to. I recommend our host cpap.com. - fax them a copy of your prescription. If you are going to be trying out a new mask, you might want to consider the return insurance.

Bought my Hybrid from our sponsor https://www.cpap.com. All you have to do is order and FAX your prescription. Pleasant experience for me...I called and chatted with them to get the details, very nice people.

Did your supplier tell you that? As the others have said you can buy them on line with a prescription at a much cheaper price.

No

Yes, on our host cpap.com. Their prices are a fraction of what you'd pay through a supplier.

Oh, and by the way. I have BC Anthem & they *do* pay for a large part of my supplies. It just has to be on their time table. Otherwise, I buy them from cpap.com.

No one will care about insurance as long as they get paid.

Hi,

Funny thing...I found that I could buy my machine outright for less than what the co-payment was, and I can buy my supplies on-line for a fraction of what the local DME wants. As an example, they wanted to charge me $80 for a hose. I bought one on-line for $10. The co-pay would have been $28. Do some shopping on the Internet. Cpap.com, cpapexchange, the cpap auction, and Amazon.com are all good places that I have purchased from, and there are several others that others in this forum have used. I found filters and mask gaskets on E-bay where I could buy a dozen for what one would have costed at the DME.
