Chin Strap For Swift LT
Chin Strap For Swift LT
Hi,
I recall seeing a photo of someone here with a chin strap that attached to a Swift LT mask. Anyone know what that is or where they are sold? While I am doing fine with my current setup of both a Swift LT and a chin strap, having one contraption to deal with rather than two might make things easier to deal with.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
jweeks,
You may be thinking of "Tattooyu". His current avtar shows him with a Papcap with chin strap (from Pursleep.com) under an LT.
In fact I contacted him about his previous avtar which seemed to show a modified LT for chinstrap.
He informed me that his experiment didn't work and he changed his avtar to show the current system.
I use the papcap and chinstrap under the LT harness too.
I don't have a picture to show you.
Good luck in your search.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
I think that the Swift LT headgear is too stretch and flimsy to effectively hold a chinstrap.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
I'm using a Deluxe Chinstrap, with my Nasal Aire II attached directly to it. I ditched the flimsy headgear. I bet this same setup would work well with the Swift LT.
The Deluxe is the CHEAPER model at https://www.cpap.com. Don't fall for the higher priced "original" - same stuff, no difference.

Here's pix of my Deluxe/NAII Mod:

I sewed two loops of Velcro One Wrap to the chinstrap, then I feed the tubing through those loops.
Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
For a while I used the pur-sleep.com pap cap with the back straps attached to Swift LT on each side.

Why did you stop using it? Was it effective?Uncle_Bob wrote:For a while I used the pur-sleep.com pap cap with the back straps attached to Swift LT on each side.
And I just can't not mention the lovely photo.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
I tried the chin strap with the Swift LT and it didn't work for me. I am a happy user of the PapCap. Right now I am back to my nasal mask, using the PapCap as the headgear and the chin strap. Seems like I get more air with my nasal mask than I did with the Swift LT.
Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
I use the Swift LT with a deconstructed Respironics chin strap P/N 302175 AND a Respironics Deluxe P/N 302425. The 175 comes w/4 dbl-sided velcro squares. The 425 comes w/2 extra straps you're supposed to use to stabilize the wide band.
I take the 2 extra straps and the 4 velcro squares. Lay one of the straps with the velcro end-tabs face up. Take the 175 and put a velcro square on each end. Attach that strap to the chinstrap in the middle so it looks like you have a double strap that goes over your head. Take the 2nd extra strap and use it across the back of your head to hold the whole thing in plece, then put on your Swift LT over the whole thing. Because the 2nd strap is a bit wider than the strap(s) that go over your head, it adheres to the underside of the Swift headgear if you secure it on the underside of the chinstrap.
I also turned the cup inside out so the seams don't rub against my chin/cheeks. And one side of the cup is a bit larger than the other and it fits nicely under my nose and protects it from chafing from the pillows.
Good luck!
BTW, this is a GREAT summertime chinstrap since none of the straps are wider than 1".

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
A number of reasons, the stitching on the side straps kept falling apart and i got frustrated waiting for repaired replacements after the second one broke in the same manner. Also the cap used to fall forward over my eyes and then finally it became too hot once the warmer summer weather arrived.jdm2857 wrote:Why did you stop using it? It was effective when it worked but i have since learned how to keep my Swift LT in position by adjusting the back strap correctly and my current chin strap helps prevent the back strap from sliding up and down my head.
The photo is likely to expire shortly
Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
lktnky - any chance we could get some pictures of your chin strap setup?? It sounds like an interesting and effective setup.

Re: Chin Strap For Swift LT
Thanks for the pictures! With your explanation, now I see!
People can click on the Photobucket link and see them so that's fine. Posting them here is a little trickier, I think!
