CPAP Presurre

Post by allsys » Wed May 27, 2009 8:57 am

My first post.
I am on 13 on my CPAP machine which was increased from 10 recently. When I tested my mask at the CPAP store, the pressure felt quite high, but the rep told me it was on 13. On my machine at home, 13 seems so low that I am not even forced to breath through my nose.
Could the reason be my machine? Can I check/adjust anything on my CPAP machine?
Thanks.

Hi, allsys; welcome to the forum!

It would really help if you could go to the under control panel (upper left hand corner of the home page) and update your user profile. That will tell us what type of CPAP machine you are using, the mask you have, etc. There's plenty of good advice and experience here to tap. If we can see what equipment you are using, the appropriate person can respond. It also helps if you use the narrative to describe your equipment rather than the photos.

Not knowing for sure what machine you have, I am wondering if it is set for "ramping". That's when the machine begins at a lower pressure than you were prescribed and gradually works up to your titration level. That would explain why is seems much less pressure than you felt originally. If that is the case, the beginning ramp stage may be set too low and may need to be moved up until you are comfortable with it.

Thank you for the advise mdbarthe. I have updated my equipment.
The low pressure even when I don't start the machine in ramp mode.
