2 weeks into CPAP.

Post by Bearcat42 » Fri Apr 24, 2009 9:14 pm

Before I started my cpap therapy I spent alot of time here reading, trying to learn what I could before I started in hopes of making a smooth transition into my therapy. Well, you know what they say about best laid plans....

The first two nights were incredible. I felt so, I dont know, awake those first two days. But after that things seemed to go downhill due to an itchy nose, pillows I could not get used to, motels with strange surroundings, and oh yes, mask leaks. I became very frustrated with the whole mess, even skipped one night because we got in from work very late and I just didnt want to mess with it.

As my frustration grew so did my apprehension each night before bed. Consequently, my AHI's went way up, leaks were getting worse, and my duration was getting really low due to taking off the mask.

Fianally I decided that the best approach to this was going to be a one step at a time process of elimination. So I took one problem at a time and focused on it until I figured it out and overcame it. This forum is a Godsend because so many before me have had these same problems and have shared their wisdom and experiences. Finding solutions to my Cpap woes here saved me so much time and now I am starting to sleep better.

I started using Pur-Sleep last night. I started with the Strawberry scent and I couldnt believe how easily I fell asleep. I know it was just my first night but I am hoping for consistently good results as I try different scents and find what I like best. By implementing things I have learned here I am starting to sleep better and better. My numbers are looking much better but they still need work. Eventually I will figure out my software/hardware issues with my card reader so I can track my data more closely and "dial" my therapy in.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. You are a great bunch of people!

It does take awhile and even though I have been at this for just over a year, I still have ups and downs with it. For awhile everything looks great and then I will have days with horrible numbers and sleep and have no clue. I never sleep without my machine no matter WHAT! I just keep on plugging away... only way to go for me.

Good luck,
Brooke
