Leaks - What is Acceptable?

Post by mars » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:45 am

After averaging a leak rate of 35 L/minute last night I shot up to an average of 56 L/minute.

But I did not feel any leaks, the mask seemed as secure as it usually does. So I do not know if I am now having or problem or not.

Is there some known or agreed leak rate per minute that I can take as something to compare my leak rate with.

The AHi was in its usual range <2.

Hope someone will have some suggestions.

cheers

I'm not quite sure how the Sandman machines work, but the Respironics show the Vent Flow Rate (mask exhalation) + Leakage as the total leak rate. ResMeds only show leakage in their total.

I believe you would have to find out the vent flow rate (at your pressure) for the Quattro and subtract that to get your actual leakage in liters per minute.

Hi Mars, I also wear the Quattro. My pressure is 13, and on the mask chart that's about 43 LPM.I am usually about 31 LPM. I don't know what your pressure is, so can only share mine with you. My AHI runs on a 7 day average of 10. I just looked at it and I'm at 9.3 AHI for 6 nights. I have never been below 5 like they say your supposed to be, I wouldn't even know how to get that kind of number..Larry..

Here's a link for the user guide for your mask. Page 7 has the leak chart.
