Symptoms from sleep apnea or not?

Post by killikat » Tue Nov 30, 2004 8:31 pm

I am so new to this. I have been recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. Yes, there are problems getting the right cpap mask and now the right level of pressure, but I am scared. I have been pretty much bedridden almost this whole last year. I feel horrible, I get profusely sweaty just sitting watching tv. I feel worse after I eat and I feel like I just lost my life. I have nobody to talk to who has this. I need to know if these symptoms are normal for this disease or not. I do have other health problems, but most doctors don't even want anything to do with me due to all these problems. Help.

If it helps, you are definitely not alone! But it can sure feel that way. I've recently been diagnosed too, and only this past week have I started with the cpap and mask and stuff. It was after I endured that sleep test when I went searching the internet, at first for info to help better arm me with questions for the doctor who I didn't like. But I found this message board very useful and comforting. I hope you do too.

I had considerable weight gain, and sheer exhaustion, wierd sleep patterns, back pain, knee pain, couldn't, still can't walk much. I find myself reviewing the parking lots of stores, and if there isn't a close in spot, I reconsider and go home. In stores I grab carts if they have them, not for shop items, but something to lean on! And try as I might, the weight kept coming. Finally, I was convinced my heart was enlarged and I was about to die. Heart doctor, said no, for now I was fine. I had put off doing the sleep test thing, thinking I was going to die anyway, so what was the use. The exhaustion got to me. I live in a small condo, and still can't get the energy to clean it. Heck, I've even left cat furballs lying around because I just didn't have the energy to clean them up. Pathetic, huh? Well, much of it is the same, but I do feel some improvement even with just a week.

How long have you been on your newly-adjusted machine? Feel any difference. Please always feel free to share or to ask. There are alot of caring people on this forum.

Me again,
I only now saw you're asking questions. Don't let Rested Gal fool you. She always reminds people she's no professional. That may be true, but just read her posts.....she's more professional than some doctors! ....Keep on asking.
