Dear Friends,
I ordered a RESMED Autoset II machine online and I also got the RESMED humidaire 4i. In the humidifier choice settings, there is only the 3i choice. The 4i works fine even if the choice is 3i. Is there a need for a firmware upgrade on my machine or the 3i choice works just fine? I am just curious about this...
By the way, after using the machine for 2 weeks. I realized that I really don't need the humidifier. I got the impression that when you sleep with the CPAP machine, the air will force itself out of my mouth and passing from the nose. I thought the cold air would dry my nose and throat. I sleep with air-conditioning set to very cold settings. But after 2 weeks, I realized that even if the CPAP machine, I can sleep with my mouth closed and i just breathe normally through my nose. And everything feels fine when I wake up in the morning without the humidifier. My doctor did not explain this very well with me. And this led me to buy the humidifier.
Anyway, I will keep the humidifier in case I go somewhere where I have to sleep with the room temperature below 10 degrees like winter in Canada.

The 3i and 4i are identical as far as anything to do with the operation of an S8 II is concerned, so the 3i choice is fine.dexter_go wrote:the 3i choice works just fine?

Thanks Bill
One last question... Is 4i really better?
Before I got my 4i, the company lent me a unit with a 3i and I noticed that the plastic container was a bit taller and I had the impression it could store more water and was easier to fill up with water than the 4i. I can't say now for sure if this is true but this my impression based on my recollection.

The H4i is basically an H3i with a slightly different water chamber and lift up cover. It is said to be easier to clean and fill, plus has a larger tub (heat transfer) plate in the water chamber, so overall its an evolutionary improvement on the H3i.dexter_go wrote:Is 4i really better?
