I was awakened by a phone call at 4 am and in my haste to turn off the machine and whip my mask off, the tangle of the hose caused me to knock the machine from my night table onto the floor.
Of course, when I filled the humidifier last night, I slightly overfilled it and left it that way. The machine landed upright but very slightly tipped toward the cpap part of the unit. I carefully, 'levelly', picked up and put everything in place and it worked just fine. (If it had gotten water inside, would I have gotten a shock or would it just not have started up?)
Does that mean that there is no water damage and I was lucky or is there a way to tell if any got inside and there will be problems in the near future?
PS - I will be changing my setup!!
Ooooopps - knocked my Resmed S8 off table
Re: Ooooopps - knocked my Resmed S8 off table
Should be okay since it did work after it dropped. I suggest you may want to invest in some non slip material the type they put under tablecloths. Some people have used velcro to keep the unit secured. Others have placed the cpap in a night stand drawer.
I have done the same thing, I just moved the stand closer to the bed and routed the hose over the headboard. You may want to also make or purchase a hose stand. cpap.com has some for sale and even you search here, a lot of folks have made them from PVC piping very inexpensive.

Keep an eye on it. It COULD quit in the next few days if any water got into it. When I traveled with my M, I got water in it and it didn't quit 'till 2 weeks later.

Re: Ooooopps - knocked my Resmed S8 off table
I did the same thing and my Elite S8 II is sill working fine mine landed on a rug right side up and my humidifier was not overfilled. I now have the Cpap in the side-stand drawer it is well protected and easy to reach.

If it was me, I'd definitely ask DSM about that. He knows the machines apart and together both, and has seen the results of such accidents . . .cpapsue wrote:I was awakened by a phone call at 4 am and in my haste to turn off the machine and whip my mask off, the tangle of the hose caused me to knock the machine from my night table onto the floor.

. . . so he may have some suggestions for you.
For phone calls, I would get an answering machine and just call back.
Oh, and love your hair!

jnk - Thanks for the compliment - I love to toss it around and fluff it up when I'm hooking up!
As far as the phone goes - it was business related.
