Masks

Post by Rodc » Sat Apr 04, 2009 6:20 pm

You can tell if someone is a user of a CPAP or BIPAP machine by looking at their hair. I have dents and curls where the strap hold my nasal pillows .
So now when I am at a store I look for the dents and curls.

I use hot rollers to cover the dents and curls in my hair, but how do you get rid of the dents and curls on the face?

outasync...very simple! No mask...http://nomask.com/ I got rid of my full face Quattro and haven't looked back. BEST thing I've done. I'm down to AHI .01!!! Sleeping straight through. No straps to bug me. No hair pulling to bug me. No face marks. Just sleeeeeeeep.

I am intrigued by the post from Sagesteve who uses the CPAP Pro No Mask. Other users out there care to tell us of your experience? I have been using the Swift LT. Have had adrenaline rushes from feeling like I can't breathe, which does not go well with trying to sleep. (Have had problems with congestion) Do not like the buckle at the back of my head, not comfortable for back sleeping. Thanks for your help.

I would definitely like to hear more from users of this alternative, too.

Just cut your hair nice and short and you won't see the strap marks. Mine is cut via clippers and a #2 blade.
Oh, no bed head with short hair either and no brush or comb needed.

I sure would like to try it, but for this:

From their website:
"What is recommended maximum pressure?
CPAP PRO® works with all cpap and bipap systems. Each individual with respect to tolerating cpap pressure is unique, and in most instances nasal pillow cpap interfaces are recommend with pressures 13 or less."

I'm not too sure I like their no return policy, either:

"What are my options if I don't like the CPAP PRO® after I buy it?
The CPAP PRO® is shipped in a sealed see-through plastic package and may be returned unopened within 30-days of receipt. However, due to FDA health regulations, once the package is opened, the product cannot be returned for sanitary reasons. Because we use the CPAP PRO® ourselves, we know that you will be happy with what the CPAP PRO® can do for you. "

I would still have to wear a chinstrap and probably still tape my mouth, as I still blow air out through my lips even with a tight chinstrap.

"What if I open my mouth during sleep?
Even if you open your mouth the CPAP PRO® mouthpiece will stay affixed to your upper teeth... it is not necessary to bite down on the mouthpiece throughout the night. Many patients report that with CPAP PRO® they no longer open their mouth during sleep. If necessary a simple chinstrap will be needed... CPAP PRO® with a chinstrap still will be far more comfortable than any other mask or interface. "

Has anyone else here had success with this device?

j/k: flat iron?
(WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, AT WORK, IN THE CAR, WHILE SLEEPING, WHILE AWAKE, OR AT ANY OTHER TIME!!!)

Seriously, though...I have done a couple of things to handle face dents and curls:

1. Pad-a-Cheeks (http://www.padacheek.com)

2. I have a tights leg cut off the panty and other leg. When folded in half lengthwise and tied with a flat knot behind my head, it holds on my Headrest (which has only the bare bones of a mask) without strap marks on my face.

I'm sure there must be other solutions. These two have worked for me, even when I did use the CL 2, as The Dreamer has said.

The marks don't bother me. Wear them like a badge of honor and be happy you are alive to see them.
