Three Different Numbers!
Three Different Numbers!
Now I am confused. I just purchased an M Series Pro CPAP. After 5 days the LED readout on the machine said my avg AHI was 2.2. The Encore Pro Software said my AHI was 3.0.
The Encore Pro Analyzer said it is 2.4. So, who whens the award for accuracy and why the difference?

Sounds like they've all taken lessons from Wall Street!
I can't offer any explanation, I used a Resmed.

Re: Three Different Numbers!
Another thing I just noticed. The LED readout on the machine reports an average leak rate of 33.8 which is a little below the recommended rate of 34 at 12cm. Encore Pro and Analyzer report higher numbers. Go figure!

Re: Three Different Numbers!
If you're looking at your "Long Term Trend" report, it's ALWAYS "high".....it rounds up. If you take your individual Daily Details Report numbers and use them for the calculations, you should come up with something lower. I've never had access to an M Series machine, so I don't have any first-hand experience with the LCD details, but I've heard they don't always match, so I'd be more inclined to go with the EPA numbers. (which are basically taken from the same source that reports the Daily Details)jrfoster wrote:Now I am confused. I just purchased an M Series Pro CPAP. Re: Three Different Numbers!
I find the same differences. I think that the computer software actually uses the stored data and is therefore potentially more accurate. But, it's not like the differences you are describing are very different. With leak rate the question is is it stable (at a given pressure). I go with the Encore Pro reports myself and don't count on the LCD except for error messages.

Re: Three Different Numbers!
I guess I will stick with the Analyzer Pro for the more accurate results. If on one week all three give the exact same numbers, that is a clue that the end is near!

Re: Three Different Numbers!
I think they correlate remarkable well . . . considering that CPAP machines are not precisely accurate, so neither is the software. That's also why trying to get down to "0" leak rates and AHI's probably isn't necessary. IMHO It's the general info that serves as a guide for us.by jrfoster on Sun Mar 22, 2009 8:59 am

Remember, the designers created what they felt was the best algorithm to come up with helpful data . . . it's not possible to create a perfect device. One thing that the medical researchers (who do clinical trials with patients) complain about is that the CPAP manufacturers will not disclose the full information on their machines . . . that is proprietary information that will probably not change since we are talking about competition in the marketplace.

I agree, Joy. As long as my numbers stay under 5.0 my therapy is working. However. being the perfectionist that I am, I want to get it under 1.0 for each week! That is why I play with pressure settings, etc.
