Just thought I would let everyone know that I had my nasal surgery (Septoplasty and Turbinate reduction) on Tuesday. The operation itself went very smoothly. It was much easier than I expected. I felt quite good the day of the surgery despite a lot of bleeding for the rest of he day. Yesterday was a quite miserable as the swelling has completely blocked my nose. Today is a bit better than yesterday. The surgery center and doctor where great. I get the splints out on Monday which should make life more pleasant.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

James, thank you so much for posting the pictures. I am thinking of having this done, but I have been so afraid of the pain and bleeding. I had a real bad bleeding experience when I had my tonsils out. But you look great! Not at all the messed up face that I was expecting. You give me courage!

The pain is _way_ less than what I imagined. Codeine has helped with what little I have had of that. Bleeding was bad the first day but now is very minimal. Yesterday was rotten due to swelling only allowing me to breath though my mouth but today is some better.

My Dr. told me that I would not be able to use my CPAP for "a few days". What did your Dr. say, and what has your experience been with that?

The surgeon called me the night of the surgery and we talked it over. He didn't think I could use CPAP the first night but he left it up to me. I decided I would just stay up all night the first night since I didn't want to sleep without CPAP. However I was tried from the travel and the surgery so at 3am I gave up. CPAP was a bit painful but I took a codeine and got about 6 or 7 hours of sleep. Used CPAP again last night and didn't really have any problems. Since I have been breathing only though my mouth for the past 1.5 years I am pretty used it so I might be harder for others. You defiantly need a full face mask for this experience.

James,
Hope it gets better quickly
I am naturally interested in the outcome as have contemplated this op myself but heard too many stories where it made no difference so have never proceeded.
I know your case is much more complicated and I sure hope we hear all good news.
Cheers DSM

i had the same thing done a few months back.
i was miserable for about a week
i can say it is wierd to actually breathe through my nose
it did nothing for my apnea
don't be suprised if after a week your teeth start gettong sore/achy
i'm still getting some swelling coming and going doc says up to 6 months for full healing
good luck wishing a speedy recovery and positive lasting outcome
