Hi all. I'm hoping you can educate me about getting data from my ResMed S8 Escape. (It's NOT a II). I've been searching the net and I'm still not clear on if the ResScan 3.7 software is compatible with my machine. My unit DOES have a smart card port on the back. I want to be sure before I spend the $300 on card, card-reader and software. I'll give you some background info...
I got the thing May 25, 2006 in Ontario, Canada. SN 20070935243, SW 386-0253. I had one initial and one follow-up overnight in the sleep lab, 30 months ago, and I guess I'm on my own now. I'd really like to analyze my own info and fiddle with my settings without the hassle and delay of consulting official med staff. FWIW I'm an optometrist, so I'm an eye doc.
I realize you access the clinical menu by holding down the right and down buttons together for three seconds. I don't see any options in that menu that might lead me to my AHI, leak info, or other data. Is my machine too "low" a model to be recording this? IF so, I'll buy one that does, if it'll let me download and analyze my data on my own PC. When I got the thing, I wasn't given any options to consider, as it was mostly covered by provincial health insurance.
And if I'm going to buy a new machine, can anyone comment on the difference between ResMed's S8 Elite II versus the AutoSet II (both with Easy-Breathe)? I notice the latter is not available on cpap.com.
Many thanks in advance, and a HNY to all!

Unless you have a S8 Elite (aka Autoscore) or S8 Vantage (aka Autoset Spirit) , there is basically no efficacy data held in the flow generator for you to access. The only data which may be available is total usage compliance, which is not really going to do anything much for you.drsgbriggs wrote:Hi all. Well, the Resmed serial numbers start with the year and month of manufacture.....drsgbriggs wrote:I got the thing May 25, 2006 in Ontario, Canada. SN 20070935243, SW 386-0253.
Basically the only things of significance you can change on a S8 Escape are going to be the flow rate setting and the altitude setting.drsgbriggs wrote:I'd really like to analyze my own info and fiddle with my settings without the hassle and delay of consulting official med staff. The S8 Elite II is a fully data capable CPAP flow generator, while the S8 Autoset II is a fully data capable APAP flow generator. The S8 Autoset II is the more expensive unit and can be used in CPAP or APAP mode, but if you are basically going OK with CPAP treatment you may not find there is any extra benefit for you in getting an Autoset II rather than an Elite II.drsgbriggs wrote:And if I'm going to buy a new machine, can anyone comment on the difference between ResMed's S8 Elite II versus the AutoSet II (both with Easy-Breathe)?
I started out with an S7 Lightweight and later went to an S8 Lightweight (basically the same as your S8 Escape) and it wasn't until mid 2007 that I got an S8 Vantage. I tried the APAP mode on the Vantage and found that the pressure variation from APAP actually disturbs my sleep, so I use my Vantage as if it was an Elite!
Cheers,
Bill
