I have. After your body adjusts to sleeping normally an exercise program should help you to both feel and sleep better. If I don't get my walk or bike ride in daily I notice the difference in my energy level(although I still sleep like a rock). Regular exercise will help you feel more energetic and alert. Good luck.

I started working out with a personal trainer about 7 months ago two times a week. I have to get there by 6:00 a.m. which was harder before starting CPAP a month ago.

It's pretty expensive but if you (like me) can find ANY excuse to not work out - I have to recommend finding a certified trainer who can motivate you and keep you coming back.

It's hard to start but so worth it when you do.

Exercise Program

Post by 050681354 » Tue Jan 06, 2009 7:55 am

An Exercise Program is of vital importance whether we have Sleep APNEA, another cronic disorder/disease or no disorder. It's vital and something that we ALL need to do. Pick something that you LIKE and are capable of doing-the specific exercise isn't what is important: It's the consistancy, the variety, the increase in time and weight (if weight bearing exercise) and correct alignment and form. Combine these things with proper diet and our specific treatment for what ails us and we'll be fine. Saying that we'll start tomorrow is (only my opinion) just an excuse because tomorrow never comes. We only have today. So - do it. Remember the old participaction advertizement: JUST DO IT. I guarantee you'll feel better than you do living a sedetary lifestyle.

I went walking at lunch today! I took it slow because I'm VERY out of shape. I walked an extra large block. Towards the end of my walk my hips were sore. I plan to repeat the walk until my hips aren't sore anymore, then increase it slowly.

Feels great to make a start!

Tuesday was very dark and rainy but temps were warm in the 50s F. In the morning I lounged around the house mostly reading.

After lunch I put on the new rainsuit my wife bought me for Christmas. Didn't bother to call John because I felt like taking a solitary walk today and not sure if he had a good rainsuit.

Heading out by foot to the center of my little village the rain was light. Suit comfortable and protecting me well. About 20 minutes into the walk a moderate shower with a pickup in wind began to blow into my face. It felt invigorating.

After about 15 minutes the wind subsided. The walk took me through some areas with quaint small houses that are being renovated by young professionals, a beautiful higher income area, to the center of the village, past my favorite local coffee shop, past city hall and through the nice older estate section with homes built in the early 1900s.

Looped back and headed home by the high school. It was 3:20 now so the traffic at the school was well beyond peak. The last mile to my development was a slight grade downhill making the finish feel easy. The rain stopped, the sky was still dark and being outside felt great.

Finished up seven miles in one hour and 45 minutes. 15-minute miles. That is the pace John and I like to achieve.

Had an early vegetarian dinner (Debtheveg, give me one point). Wife and daughter wanted to watch DVD, Juno. Sounded like a chick flick but I just wanted to lounge around so I popped a large pot of corn and flopped down.

Juno! Surprised me. Excellent movie! Be sure to rent it.

Nice simple day.

I am a former biker (Yankees kept moving down here and clogged up the roads). Loved riding in light rains. Tried to avoid the heavy rains.

I looked at new bikes in December. Wow, some nice stuff now. I only had a steel frame. I can get excited about a new bike but there are limited places to ride one. NC is way behind many other states in providing bike paths.
