I am a little concerned because I just saw the official results of my auto-titration study and it stated that I had only partial correction of my sleep apnea with the CPAP. It stated that I still had an AHI of 7.8 while using the APAP. The report stated that the high AHI may have been partially from a leak.
Is there any way that one can tell if the leak is happening first or if the apnea actually caused me to open my mouth thus resulting in a larger leak? Basically, did the apnea come before the leak or did the leak result in an untreated apnea?? I hope my question is not too confusing.
Thanks.

Relax. An AHI of 5.0 is considered "normal" sleep so an AHI of 7.8 is not THAT much higher that there is any need to worry or fret.
Its almost a guarantee that the high AHI is due to leaks; whether mask, mouth or lip leaks is something you will have to work at determining.

Thanks Slinky. It is not that I am overtly worried but it seems from what I have read on the forum, that people work hard to get their AHI to a very low level. I am planning on adding a chin strap to my set-up and maybe this will help with the mouth leaks that I did note. The report stated what the leaks ran at the it did not seem that high. The average leak was noted to be 2.6 lpm but at its worst, it was 28 lpm. I was using the Swift II nasal pillow system for the trial.
