Of odd readings, AHI's and sessions >4 hours

Post by myapapismadhot » Mon Jul 28, 2008 6:49 pm

To give some background, I started out with pressures on my APAP at 5-10 given that I haven't had time to go back for the second test. My average pressure on those settings was 7.8 with an AHI just under 5. I adjusted my settings to go from 7 to 11 instead. My AHI dropped down to 2.8 ish.

I have been having some odd readings on the machine since. When I put on the mask and start breathing, the machine starts automatically, but it doesn't seem to create a new session. My therapy sessions >4 hours have not changed at all during the last week. The 7 day number has been stuck at 2 days. Also, my AHI had dropped to below 3 and now, after last night, it spiked up to 4.2. I did get to bed late, had 2 beers and a snack before I went to bed late, but should one night have that much of an impact? Is there any reason why one night should skew that average? Is there any reason why the machine won't register a new night of use?

In terms of my AHI, the change from 7 to 11 was helpful. My average pressure is now 9.8. Should I bump things up to 8 and 12? I have the software, but don't have the hardware to read the card and I'm tracking that down. I can't possibly do another test until late August as I'm just gone until then.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome!

One that can make things simple is to fill in your profile. You won't have to tell the rest of us what machine you're using, mask, etc. every time you have a question about your particular machine.

I'm betting someone who uses an apap will come along with a good answer soon.

Everyone has a bad night now and then(even those without OSA). You may even have a couple of bad nights in a row. Alcohol, stress, diet, all have an impact. Don't get stressed over 1 or 2 bad nights.

Thanks. It's amazing to see how much eating poorly and going to sleep late leads to a shi**y night of sleep. On Friday, I actually went to sleep around 11:30 and woke up at 5:30am and was full of energy until about midnight. Today I felt sluggish.

I still don't know why the machine doesn't create a new session.
