Hello all:
I'm still relatively new to the boards and I'm just curious how old we all are? I don't know if I'm alone in being a relatively young person here at 31 years old so that makes me wonder...
P.S. Don't answer if you don't want to- this is a strictly voluntary informal survey I'm doing here- thanks in advance for your participation if you choose to do so.

I'll bite
I'm 40 and spent my first night on my CPAP last night. I'm sort of out of the "norm" (very relative term) in that I'm not overweight, male, and I have a fairly long neck.

Hi! I am now 61 - was first diagnosed with Sleep Apnea about 18 months ago , but suspect I have have probably had some difficulty for approx 28 years. Weight is a problem here - I am approx 50 above desired range (but am now beginning to lose ).

I am 47. Diagnosed a year ago. I have ALWAYS had trouble with snoring/apnea from childhood, but it was undiagnosed. I never had any idea what was wrong. My nickname as a child & teen was "Iron Poor" because I was constantly tired & yawning. Looking back I have no idea how I made it this long. I was sleeping for no more than 1 minute between episodes. My airway actually collaspes once I hit a certain stage of sleep. The CPAP has been a lifesaver.
Okay, looks like I'm the youngest so far at 31...

Either no-one as young as I am has this condition (except for EbonyEyes) or they don't want to talk about it in a computer BBS
Or maybe young ppl are more reluctant to admit that they need treatment for something like this?
Not attempting to pigeon-hole anyone- just trying to get an idea of the range of ages of people who use CPAP therapy. I know there even are some children who use it (more likely due to CSA than OSA) so the range is all over the place, but I'm just curious what the median age is of people posting here on the boards.
Thanks to those who participated!

I'm 41 (Just turned) as for weight...lemme put it this way, I'm a BBW (Big Beautiful Woman for those who've never heard the term). Good thing I'm relatively tall...5'7". I was diagnosed just this past August and finally started treatment 3 weeks ago. Between the sleep studies (2 of them) and the fact my respiratory specialist lives a full 6 hours away in Toronto and I'm in Ottawa and only comes to town 2 or 3 times a month. But once I got an appointment to go over the results, things were put into motion fairly quickly.

I will be 65 in January, 2005 and have been on PAP (auto) since July of this year. I probably have had SA longer but I finally just told my pulmonoligist that I thought I had it and he had me tested and sure enough I was diagnosed with severe SA.
Thank God for CPAP/AUTO/BI-/C-FLEX and everything else that you can throw in there to help us. What a difference a breath makes!
