I'm finally getting a new machine -- need advice

Post by gregnga » Thu Dec 13, 2007 9:06 pm

After having my 2nd sleep study, I have finally decided to get a new machine. I have narrowed it down to either
REMstar Pro 2 C-Flex CPAP Machine or REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP Machine.

Can someone advise. I know the latter has the auto adjusting capabilities. How do I know if that would be useful to me

Thanks

I have a Auto that I run in cpap mode most of the time. It is nice to switch it to auto mode for a few day ever so often, a check of how your pressure is doing. I have no desire to go backand have another sleep study but running it in auto mode will do almost what I can get out of a sleep lab if I loose or gain weight and my pressure changes. If you get an auto get the one with A-flex it gives you exhalation relief while in auto mode the C-flex model does not.

I have an M series auto cpap with c-flex (NOT the aflex model). The c-flex mode does work with the auto pap feature on mine.

Start Date: 8/30/2007 Pressure 9 - 15

I started with the Pro 2 and it is my sentimental favorite. I spent my first year with it and was able to tweak my therapy with no problems. I do have both machines and run my autos in CPAP mode. They are both excellent data-capable machines......and, you don't NEED the newest versions of Encore Pro to see the data. Encore Pro 1.6 or less works just fine.

I tried one of my Autos in a range of pressures for a week and wasn't all that impressed with the results. I found that the changing pressures disturbed my sleep.

Your call.

Everyone is different w/ how they respond to straight CPAP or auto, etc.

The thing to remember is that you won't know till you try it and more importantly, an auto machine can be set to run as a straight CPAP but a straight CPAP cannot run as an auto ... ie. the auto gives you more options.

I have only had one machine a-flex and thus far it has worked great for me. From what I learned in my reaserach the a-flex technology was newer and improved apon the c-flex platform. Read on on a-flex around these parts, most people only have the best of things to say about them.

I recommend the M series auto with aflex
You cannot go wrong and can run this unit in any mode you wish

CPAP withor without cflex

APAP with or without aflex

And it so happens I routinely use it in cpap mode

Have you considered a bipap?

Just bought my 2nd autopap 1 week ago and now thinking of getting a bipap for my next purchase.
